Description: Open year round, Castle Farms is one of Northern Michigan's top historic...
Open year round, Castle Farms is one of Northern Michigan's top historic attractions, as well as one of the Midwest's premier wedding venues. Visitors can stroll throughout the magnificent stone buildings dating back to 1918, and enjoy gorgeous gardens. A variety of museum quality collections featuring castles, antique toys, and royalty memorabilia from around the world are displayed throughout the buildings. The Castle's 1918 Museum showcases items from that time era, plus World War I memorabilia. Children delight in feeding the huge rainbow trout swimming in the Reflection Pond, playing a game of giant chess, or hide-and-seek with the fairies and gnomes dwelling in the Enchanted Forest. Our Self-Guided Tours offer Scavenger Hunt tours for children, too! Everyone loves The Castle's Garden Railroad; with more than 1/2 mile of track and 68 G-scale trains, it's one of the largest in the State. Listed on both the National and State Historic Registries, Castle Farms is a world-class historic property where old world charm and modern-day elegance enchant visitors of all ages.

Amazing place with a lot of history. Amazing what the owner has went to in order to restore this place for others to enjoy. Fabulous structure and the flowers and plants are amazing. Even stuff for the smaller kids to do. I thought I would be bored here but it was actually pretty cool.

Absolutely stunning grounds. Don't know that we have ever seen anything more meticulously maintained. Their flowers were amazing. Every courtyard looks like it's ready for a wedding. There is really nothing "farm" about this place and there isn't a lot of history to look at except the video and some cases with antique items in them. The WWI museum was... More

We recently went to their Farm Fresh Dinner and thought it was excellent! Castle Farms doesn't actually have a kitchen so all of their meals are catered but in this case that is not a bad thing. The food, atmosphere and service was fantastic. They only hold this dinner once a month during the summer and we've already signed up... More

This is an amazing destination for a wedding or special event. The facility is gorgeous. The staff is very friendly. The bride arrived in a horse drawn carriage. It was magnificent.

The kids enjoyed this very much - especially the trains and hedge maze. The scavenger hunt kept them engaged in learning more and there were things to do and explore at every turn. This was an impromptu detour for us and we were so glad we made the stop. Besides the train and maze, the kids loved feeding the fish,... More

We decided to visit this attraction after reading reviews on TripAdvisor. What a nice attraction. The story of the history and various renovations of the castle and farm, the beautiful and unique gardens, and the interesting guide make this a great tour. Albert Loeb was certainly a fascinating individual. Kids will love the trains and village. As a side note,... More

We thought this sounded fascinating, but 2 minutes into the tour we realized this place is just a wedding venue or event center. The inside of the castle is empty except where it's set up for an event. There were cases of royal memorabilia like commemorative cups and plates. One room did have historic items from the old Sears catalog.... More

We appreciate you taking time to share your thoughts on your recent visit to Castle Farms. We’re sorry to hear that you found the Castle a disappointment. Built in 1918 by Albert Loeb, president of Sears, the Castle was originally a working model dairy farm for Holstein-Friesian dairy cattle. It’s true that the Castle does play host to numerous events... More

Very delighted to discover the renovated Castle Farm in CharlevoIx, MI. If you like castles this is a must see. Originally built in 1918 by Mr. Loeb of Sears and Roebuck fame to house cattle and horses, this historic site has been reinvented as a tourist attraction and an event center. The buildings are stunning in their Normandy style and... More
