It's a fun little drive to ride around and look at these very cool little houses. You can pick up a map of the driving route and just follow the numbers. And then you can get out and take pictures of them. It doesn't cost a thing and it doesn't take long. Definitely worth a look!

We did our own walking tour and saw the mushroom houses. They are cute and interesting. It's a fun, free activity and it's only a short walk from the main drive.

I haven't seen anything like this in the US. It isn't even like some of the houses you would see in the English countryside. It is a very unique one of a kind house.

These homes are so unusual and diverse. It was fun to take the ride by the water and gaze at these most interesting structures!

Are these whimsical places neat to live in w/people like us walking passes and staring and pointing and???? Really enjoyed and were able to walk to most of them.. Get a map at the CofC or hotel.. The fireplace in the lobby of the Weathervane Inn is also the creation of Earl Young and worth looking into. Stafford's Weathervane Restaurant... More

The homes created in Charlavoix by Earl Young are definitely worth a look! Before taking the tour, be sure to read about this interesting man's life! We had a map and rode around and looked at the homes created by this multi. talented man. He used materials, such as limestone and fieldstone, that could be found locally. His belief that... More

These mushroom houses are fascinating! Clever and intricate....you won't want to miss any of them! There is an excellent book "Mushroom Houses of Charlevoix" by Mike Barton that is an excellent resource with fantastic pictures. Take Park Street and you'll see the greatest majority of them.

We picked up a map and headed out to view all of the Earl Young structures in town. They are whimsical and magical structures that are just delightful! Don't miss seeing these if you are in the area.

A must see in Charlevoix - Earl Young's impressive "curved roof" homes. He personally selected the stones and personally selected (and a good wife who wrote down his instructions) where they were to be placed in the construction of his 12 houses. Leave time in your schedule to have lunch at the Weathervane Restaurant designed by Mr. Young and check... More
