Home of the Great Bear Chase x-country ski race, there is always lots of snow from December to April. The trails are groomed for both conventional and skate skiing. There is a chalet which serves hot drinks. The Swedetown trails are rivaled only by the Michigan Tech trails a few miles south which are reputed to be one of the... More

Most of the year, this is a great trail system for mountain biking. Nothing super technical but built to allow for a flow ride. I had the misfortune of riding the day after a storm so the trails were littered with branches and down tree limbs. You can see the promise of this system though. Don't miss Applesauce, the beaver... Great trails, good mapping and signage. A chalet for warming up. Also a nice hill for sledding at the site. Easy access from the Historic Village of Calumet.

My husband skied the 50k race and described the trails as interesting and fun. The track was firm and well-groomed. I waited for him in the chalet, which I found warm, clean, comfortable and staffed with friendly attendants.

We needed some exercise and fresh air and wanted to use our snowshoes. The price was reasonable and the woman who was manning the chalet was friendly and had a classic Yooper accent. The trails were well signed and great other than having to duck for some branches. I'm glad we got out and about on the trails.

I learned to mountain bike on the Michigan Tech Trails, and until recently I had never biked the Swedetown trails. I wish I had know about them earlier! These trails have a great flow and are very fun to ride without the technical ability necessary at the MTU trails. They are much easier for beginners but are also a lot... More

I may be a little biased since my wifes family is from this small community, but it's a perfect place for a quiet vaction and winter fun. There are tons of CC skiing trails at various distances, all of which are well groomed for either classic or skate skiing. I stink at skate skiing. There is also a good size... More

Swedetown is a great 4 season recreation area. The skate (and classic) skiing is world class here. Numerous trails of varying terrain for different abilities. They use the latest grooming technology and know how to maintain the track. About 6K is lit for night time skiing. It has a chalet with munchies, bathroom, and a waxing table (with iron). During... There are enough trails for all experiences. Some a bit more hilly and some that are pretty level. Signage is easy to follow. Usually easy to find a parking spot and a lodge to warm up in as well as a nice sled hill for all with a shorter one for the young ones.
