Nice place to stretch your legs with great views of Boston Harbor

Just don't think about the wastewater treatment plant and you'll be fine. The views of the harbor and the skyline are probably the best in the area.

Took a drive out to Deer Island to see what it was like in spite of knowing that there was a large waste water treatment facility taking up most of the island. Well was I surprised at the nice trails and outstanding views that was there. We were fortunate to arrive on a beautiful clear day. The view of the... More

It is a nice walk around the island with a good path. Just beautiful views of Winthrop, the ocean and Boston.

Stopped here after we ate at belle island seafood in Winthrop since it was close. I have lived in Boston my entire life just about and had never been here. I would say this is better than castle island as a walking spot. We walked the 2 mile loop it was a nice walk if you start out on the... More

Walking paths and good views of the water. In spite of the fact that Deer Island is a sewage treatment plant, there was not any odors that we detected. It's a pleasant place to have a walk especially with kids in strollers.

The walk around the island is very good exercise and you can either take to the hills or the around the island avoiding the hills. The path is clear except one are by the sewer plant egg digesters that sand and rock come up from the tides. The views are tremendous from any part of the walkway. The only downfall... More

you wouldn't think a hike around a sewage treatment plant would be fun, but the Deer Island trail (2.6 miles) takes you well into Boston Harbor, with great views of the city, the inner harbor, and the outer harbor. And on a sweltering summer day it's always much cooler at Deer Island. Not enough parking is a problem, but I've... More

Greatest free harbor tour in Boston. You can practical touch the boats! It is about a two mile round trip but, there are shorter walks with views from hills that give you 360 degree view!

This was recommended to us and we thought "really a treatment facility?" But it was a great 3 mile hike, with total ocean views, nice paved walkway, vista points to hike up and enjoy. There was even a porta potty half way around :) Benches were available to sit and enjoy the view of the ocean, the city, and the... More

I had heard about the HarborWalk on previous visits to Winthrop but never had the time to do it till my most recent visit. It took me about 40 minutes, with several stops to photograph the views. When you look at the islands, you feel that you're in a boat in the middle of the harbor! The landside views are... More
