this collection of rare documents (and books) blows the mind of first time viewers. the documents range from a copy of the declaration of independence (marked up by George mason) to the British response to that document. and everybody should have a chance to read teddy Roosevelt's typed letter instructing his campaign to return $100,000 donated by standard oil.

The Chapin Library, which is the rare book and manuscript collection of Williams College, is located in the magnificent new Sawyer Library. No other liberal arts college in the United States has a rare book collection that compares to this one. You should visit this small Williams College library in Stetson Hall just to see all the major documents of the beginning of US history is one case!! They have printed copies of the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, Bill of Rights and Articles of Confederation, some with comments written on them by participants.
