The Playhouse is truly and island treasure. Hosting interesting plays in a newly-remodeled, cozy (150 seats) theater, the Playhouse is one of our favorite island venues. Last evening's performance of King Mackerel And The Blues Are Running, a musical celebration of the culture of the North Carolina barrier island coast was a classic Playhouse offering. We feel so lucky to... More

i have long attended plays here in the summer time. But the building was always, shall we say, not very attractive. Now a wonderful renovation that closed the playhouse for a while has resulted in a great space upstairs (the theatre) and down (the lobby). elevator gives good accessibility to the upstairs. On the small island of Martha's Vineyard it is a treat to find such quality theater productions. And as of the start of the 2014 season, the refurbishing of the theater is complete and it is a total makeover and has been beautifully done. This is a 96 seat theater so it is small and intimate and there is not... More

What was an old church turned into a playhouse has been transformed by complete renovation to an outstanding facility in lobby, restrooms, stage and audience seating. It's absolutely beautiful anywhere you look. Large boat paintings add bright color to the lobby social area. Light wood floors give an airy feel. The Patricia Neal Stage is attractive and new audience blue... More

After more than two years of a total facelift, this great island resource reopens in grand style June 21, 2014 with another fantastic season of great theater. Whatever they're doing, they always know what they're doing. You are guaranteed a wonderful theatrical experience.

Always worth going whatever they are doing at the time. Lots of talent from both on and off Island. They are currently renovating don't know when finish is due.
