The Church of the Transfiguration is the center of Community of Jesus - an ecumenical Benedictine monastic community located at Rock Harbor on the shores of Cape Cod Bay. The Community follows a daily rhythm of prayer including Eucharist and Liturgy of the Hours (sung in Gregorian chant). Constructed of Minnesota limestone, and designed by William Rawn Associates of Boston, the Church of the Transfiguration is a contemporary expression of an ancient 4th century style of architecture, and recounts the story of salvation through mosaic and fresco images, bronze, glass, and stone sculpture. The organ is a restoration and expansion of pipework from twelve organs built by the E.M. Skinner Organ Company in the early 20th century. Sunday Eucharist -- 10:00 Weekday Vespers -- 5:30pm Saturday Choral Evensong or Vespers -- 5:15pm TOURS -- Monday - Saturday at 3:00pm Organ demonstrations -- Fridays at 3:30pm Priory Books & Gifts -- Monday - Saturday 10am - 6pm(Wednesdays the Church is closed)

A friendly Christian religious community living in a peaceful corner of Cape Cod next to a remote beach, built a church of outstanding architectural, artistic and spiritual value. If you are lucky, a Christian brother will greet you with a smile and take you on a tour of the Church and the grounds. But you can also do it on... More

Glad that you were able to visit. The E.M.Skinner organ is unique, a surround sound experience with organ pipes located in the side aisles. Every Friday following the 3 pm tour there is a free organ demonstration. More

One of our party was very keen to go and see this, and the rest of us were pretty lukewarm about it, but we were all very pleasantly surprised. The quality of the artwork and the explanations about it the art, the stories behind it and the information about the community make for a very enjoyable hour. There are really... More

Don't miss this church! You don't have to be religious to appreciate this place. I'd been meaning to take a look in side for several years now (often seen the outside from Rock Harbor, and the Angel from Skaket Beach) and finally got around to it while a family friend from the west coast was visiting. I highly recommend getting... More

If you have even the slightest interest in art, you have to see this church fill with works by with world-renowned artists! If there are events going on (concerts, theater etc) those are also a "must see!"

Everyone we met had a smile on their face - and it was extremely hot that day. We had a private tour and learned the... More
