A visit to Ripley's "Thermometer Man" is not for everyone. The home museum is in an outbuilding at Richard Porter's house in Onset, MA. It's small; it's cramped; it's bursting with a collection of over 5000 thermometers, so many that Richard holds the Guiness world record for the most thermometers in one place.
