Oak Bluffs on Martha's Vineyard Island in Massachusetts is a time travel experience back to the early 1960's. Part of the charm of the area is the oldest carousel. It is indoors and not very elaborate, but you can still try to capture the brass ring in old fashioned style. There are a few old arcade games as welll such... More

So, the oldest working carousel in the country is just a wee bit different than the mall carousels of today. There is no canopy overhead, the horses don't go up and down, but ya know what? My kids didn't care in the least! They LOVED it, especially the challenge to get the rings. We didn't get the brass ring, but... More

What a blast from the past....enjoyed sharing the experience with our grandson. Quite a piece of history as the oldest operating carousel in the country.

Fascinating to see such an old carousel still in operation and in great condition. The children on it were obviously delighted, while the parents and grandparents were taking pictures. If you have children, this is a must. If you don't, this is still a must to see.

I love this place!!! I came here as a child and it's awesome that it is still here so I can bring my kids and enjoy it with them. We weren't lucky enough to get he brass ring but maybe next time!

Not much to say other than, it's a carousel. The horses were well-maintained and looked cool, but they didn't go up and down. The had the "grab the brass ring" thing, which was pretty cool. It's an indoor carousel, so not much in terms of views. $2.50 per ride. Adults riding with a little one are free. The staff was... More

We had a fun time going around the carousel while the weather was icky outside. The kids loved getting the rings and they had fun doing so. I don't know if it's the oldest, since we've also been to the Paragon Carousel in Hull, Ma.

The Flying Horses Carousel is inexpensive and a fun challenge for those with quick hands to grab the rings. For those that just want to enjoy the sounds and feel of an old time carousel ride, it's great too. It's a quick ride so it won't take too much time out of your busy week at the Vineyard. Our sons,... More
