The Flying Horses Carousel is inexpensive and a fun challenge for those with quick hands to grab the rings. For those that just want to enjoy the sounds and feel of an old time carousel ride, it's great too. It's a quick ride so it won't take too much time out of your busy week at the Vineyard. Our sons,... More

Full disclosure: I have always wanted to ride a carousel with the ring feature CHECK! It was as much fun as I'd imagined, and not as easy as it looked. I collected enough to have a respectable showing. They have rings for riders on both the inner & outer lanes, so no one is denied the fun. Ride costs 2.50,... More

We have been coming to the Vineyard for years and brought the kids (and now their children) to the Flying Horses every summer visit. There is something so authentic and fun about the music, the wooden horses, and the arm that dispenses the golden ring...truly a memory-making experience for all ages.

On the National Register of Historic Places, this carousel is a classic that first operated in 1884. Fun for the kids and fun for adults to watch the kids.

I was skeptical but the old carousel is very well maintained. And catching the rings is quite diverting... my daughter loved it!

This is a very old carousel in the center of town. Our son had his first ride on the flying horses recently and enjoyed it. There are also a few arcade games and things along with the carousel. Kids will enjoy it. Collect the rings as you ride and you can win a free ride!!! Costs $2.50 per ride.

We have been to Oak Bluffs twice now and both times we have stopped by this wonderful carousel. On the second visit, we had the whole family on the trip. All of us had a great time riding on this vintage carousel. Some of us enjoyed it even more than others, as my son's friend managed to catch the "Brass"... More

Came back to visit with my grandchildren, brought back great memories of taking my own children when they were young. Worth the short boat ride from Falmouth!

This is a must see and experience when you come to Oak Bluffs. This antique piece of yesterday is the classic metaphor for life. Cliche?--not to me. The ancient feel of the whole experience links one to yesterday and still creates excitment and joy in kids of all ages. The thrill of the brass ring and grabbing multiple rings if... More

We didn't know about this on our day trip to the Vineyard. It was one of the locals that pointed it out to us. We took our 16 month old grand daughter on the ride and she loved it. You can also buy a children's book about the carousel there too. A recommend.
