Newly and beautifully renovated

This is a wonderful place to hear music, see dance, or attend community events. The renovation makes it shine.

Owned by the city of Northampton, this popular theater is a gem in the heart of the city. Once an opera house, later a movie theater, the facility now hosts a variety of community events throughout the year -- one of which was my granddaughter's dance performance. What a thrill for our small dancers to be able to perform in... More

This is a fun theater to meet and see all your buddies from Northampton and the surrounding area. A lot of local productions that are often cute and surprisingly good. Only negative is they charge a service charge for tickets even if you buy them at the box office.

One of first city owned theaters in the US, the Academy is a historic gem that is currently raising money to restore and update some of the features of the theatre. This theatre, located in the center of Northampton, feels like you are stepping back in time. It hosts so many cultural events, many produced by area groups, schools and... More

The Academy of Music is a showplace just outside the gates of Smith College. It dates back to its earliest performer Jenny Lind in the 1800's who loved it, and Northampton, so much that she called it "The Paradise of America". Northampton is still known locally as Paradise City. A trip to the Academy of Music brings you back to that... More

The Academy of Music is Northampton's gem. Recently renovated, it's the 6th oldest theatre in the US. Very grand and a flashback to more civilized times. It's a lovely place to see a concert, dance performance, or film.

Has character inside, all the seats in the orchestra have a good view. Seats wide enough and aisles too so you can be comfortable. They offer snacks in the lobby. Great place to see and hear your favorite music or other event.

Almost any performance at the Academy provides a good reason to visit this restored gem. Go to the Academy and imagine yourself moving back in time, perhaps, 50, 75, or 100 years ago. Let the statue of Bogart (who greets you in the lobby) guide you in, and allow your surroundings to add depth to whatever event, concert or film... More
