DO NOT MISS THE SUNSET

We were told by 3 people not to miss the sunset at Menemsha Beach and they were so right! This is a party ritual like no other I have seen to watch a sunset. Memensha is dry but you can BYO. We went out by bus and brought along 2 bottles of wine. When you get off the bus we... More

We brought a picnic here to watch the sun go down and probably didn't come early enough as parking was nearly impossible. While we were waiting for another car to pull out of a spot, the police officer on duty yelled at us for obstructing traffic. Apparently he made a mental note of our vehicle, because when we arrived back... More

What a great time we had. We took a picnic dinner. And the kids swam while we waited for the sun to set. The view was fabulous! Hope to be back!

As one of the few places on the east coast, where one can watch the sun set over water, this is an island jewel. You can order chowder or cooked lobsters from the nearby seafood restaurants, picnic on the beach, and hope the low lying clouds don't come to obscure the final dip of the sun into the water. On... We love visiting Menemsha for the small fishing village atmosphere. You can get some great seafood to eat there or take home, and visit a few shops. The view of the water and boats from the beach is amazing and relaxing on a perfect summer day. But beware of the rocks! They make it painful to go in the water,... More

This is a great location to watch the sunset. Took a taxi there to avoid the limited parking. Crowd wasn't too bad for a Saturday evening.

Menemsha is a small and scenic fishing village on the island of Martha's Vineyard. It is a great place to go and explore. It is ringed with seafood shops that serve delectable seafood -- chowder and lots more! -- right off the boat. The beach is fairly small but sits right at the edge of the village within easy walking... More

Lovely public beach, no beach sticker needed. You can settle on or walk along the sandy beach, or climb around on the rocks that form a jetty out into the waves. There are public restrooms. The problem here is parking, so walk or ride if you can.

If you have plenty of time to sit in dead stopped traffic, you'll get to see one of the most beautiful sunsets ever. Also go to Larsens fish market for the freshest cooked lobster ever.
