I recently visited the zoo with my elderly mother and young nephew. What a great time we had! My mother enjoyed all of the animals and my nephew enjoyed the rides and the animals. We especially liked the deer forest and the petting zoo. The bird show was fun too! This is a large zoo so plan on spending the... More

So I have visited many zoos, in many cities, and I must say this one is a gem. The zoo is located off-the-beaten path, so do use your GPS. If you have little kids bring the stroller (the jogging one if you have it.) and wear sneakers or comfortable shoes. Most paths are not paved and there are little hills... More

What a surprise to find a really great Zoo in the little town of Mendon. An excellent family attraction with a wide variety of animals and other interesting exhibits. Plenty of shade for walking around comfortably in hot weather. Lots of monkeys that seem to enjoy entertaining the crowds: a petting area with goats etc for kids big and small... More

Loved this zoo, tons of fascinating animals in a very peaceful setting. The chairlift was an awesome way to see the place, and the deer forest, where you can walk around with deer in the open who you can feed and pet, was awesome as well. By and large the animals seemed well cared for and healthy, but the two... More

I've been going to Southwick's for last four years and I love it more and more every day. They are constantly adding new animals and experiences for guests. It's a clean and beautifully landscaped. The costumer service is first class well. My daughter is now 3 1/2 and we spend the entire day and had plenty to do. We saw... More

My 3 year old and I spent 5 hours there! My daughter's favorite part was the petting area for baby goats - we went back 3 times. My favorite part was the 15 min. peacock show. It's different from other zoos since many areas are closer to a wildlife habitat - many woods. It is fairly shaded walking around which... More

Having been to the Franklin Park Zoo in Boston, York Wild Kingdom in York, Maine, and the Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence, I looked online to see if there were any other animal attractions in the New England area. I found Southwick's Zoo and immediately noticed that unlike other zoos I had seen there was no age restrictions on... More

I went to Southwick with 26 kindergarten children for a class trip. This zoo is fantastic. It is a not like other zoos. I loved the petting zoo and the deer forest. Both are unique for a zoo. The class also attended a animal talk too. It was perfect presentation for 5 and 6 year old. The students enjoyed their... More

We just spent three hours at Southwick's Zoo with our two year old grandkids and son - how much fun it was for us all! The animals are all so accessible and the exhibits are well laid out to give an "up close and personal" experience to even the youngest visitors. The Zoo is very clean and nicely planted with... We had such a fun day last Sunday at the Southwick Zoo. It is quite an adventure and about an hour ride from Boston. Be prepared to do a lot of walking and wear comfortable shoes and bring water! There are some steep hills so keep that in mind as well. We were greeted first by the Macaw who spoke... More
