This is a great reasonably sized zoo to take the family to. There are several small rides for younger children. The rides, however, are not included in the price of general admission. There are plenty of animal exhibits with a decent variety. The animals are clearly well cared for as are the zoo grounds. I would suggest buying tickets ahead... More

I remember those days at the Zoo when it was all fun and games. This time I took my little one to experience the Zoo and it was tough to explain him we the animals were not active/awake or worst, why they were all trapped in such small places (compared to nature). Although this Zoo seem to care for the... More

Southwick's is a smaller zoo but not tiny and what makes it great is for its size the animals have decent size enclosures/cages. Very good variety of animals to check out, the feeding area for goats is nice but the deer area is great to walk in the forest and feed or just watch many deer. Carnival type rides for... More

I have been to Southwick's once before and enjoyed it, but as a guest of a party that included all mechanical rides, the sky ride and the train I can't say enough. The party was at 11am and we stayed until closing at 5pm. We could have stayed for hours more. There is so much to do when you are... More

Went with 4 adults and a 2 year old. Very large variety of animals. Especially loved the apes and lions. Wish the animals were moving around more. I think the admission price is a bit high, but we had good discount tickets so it was not bad. Food prices inside are very reasonable, clean park, plenty of rest rooms and... More

Clean, good variety of animals, small enough to walk around and no traffic getting there. Every year they seem to invest more in the zoo, with new or upgraded enclosures. Definitely worth the trip.

It's local, there are lots of kinds of animals to see so you can make a whole day out of it if you want to, but it's still small enough that you won't be exhausted when you get home. We loved the sky ride, and the kids liked petting and feeding the goats and the deer. The only thing I... More

So much to see and learn. Plan on doing a lot of walking,A LOT. On their website they do have a lot of info with FAQ. Only two things they dont have enough info on. 1) To bring plenty of water/drinks. 2) Not many diaper changing stations. i.e. saw them being changed on picnic tables. They did have several people... This is our favorite zoo in MA! There are so many animals, large exhibits and the place is very clean! Everyone is super friendly. We usually skip the rides and spend our day with the animals. They have a wide variety of monkeys, birds and others, the Lions, tigers, and hippos are our favorites! We enjoy feeding and petting the... More

I loved the zoo because it was more than just a zoo. It had special exhibits and things for the kids to do. They also have carnival type rides if that's what you like, We did go on the merry go round, who could resist? The petting zoo was fun, the parakeet feeding was wonderful, the kids loved it when...
