I went to Kripalu because a teacher I had met somewhere else, was giving a weeklong workshop. The workshop room smelled strongly like a mix of old socks and the exhalations of the dead (not pleasant, actually), I couldn't believe we were going to practice Pranyama (DEEP BREATHING) in there. It was gross. The first response when I mentioned it... more

I went from Sunday to Friday for the Relax and Renewal. I stayed in the dormitories with 7 others (from their 20s to their 60s!) and had no issues (there is a lights out policy, and a no-cell phone policy, so that was easy.) You are hardly ever in your room (just to sleep) so even though I could have... more

I am surprised by the negative reviews - my guess would be that previous reviewers were under the impression that they were going to a luxurious spa retreat. Kripalu is a serene, peaceful retreat experience - one that reminds you that you don't need excess to be happy and peaceful. The building is a former seminary. As a result... it's... more

I went to Kripalu for "rest and rejuvenation" and left with a stomach virus. No one seemed to care that I was sick or cared if I left. The facility is run down and unhealthy. The bathrooms are unclean, the basement "spa' is located next to the storage and equipment room has mold and mildew. There is no air flow... more

I went to Kripalu for a special yoga program and paid $450 for a shared room with a walk to the shared bathroom. The sheets are pilly, the linens must be washed in a strong caustic soap that keep the smell in them and started to nauseate me after about 5 hours. The mattress was crummy. If you pay for... more

I went to Kripalu, on a school tour, I'm in school for massage therapy and we took a field trip to check out what it was like to work at Kripalu. We got a little tour and checked out the gift shop and ate lunch there as well. I didn't actually stay there but even if i was after I... more

I spent three nights and 4 days at Kripalu in their R&R program. While in that program I could take advantage of yoga classes offered three times a day; instructional programs on yoga and spiritual wellness; the delicious and nutritious foods offered for breakfast lunch and dinner; their gym, sauna, and whirlpool facilities; and their spa treatments. You also have... more

Due to the fact I refuse to share beds or baths with strangers, some friends and I went to Kripalu as day guests. There were four of us and we deemed the day "interesting." As you drive up to the facility in beautiful lenox you see an ugly institutional buildiing that was once a seminary school. Nothing has been done... more

Kripalu is like Mecca for Yoga. Kripalu gives you access to the best Yoga and Spiritual teachers in the world. Period. The rest is all fluff, an illusion if you will. Yes, the rooms are spartan. Two twin beds, a sink, a window, a clock, tissues, lights, a basket, bedding, and an open closet area. Enough room to get to... more

My daughter and I just returned from a 2 day stay at Kripalu that was suppose to be a 3 day stay. We just couldn't take it anymore, and left a day early. (By the way,no one asked why.) The yoga classes themselves were terrific. However, everything else was so horrendous, that the good part was cancelled out. To say... more
