This is a really lovely place, a gem of a bookstore. It doesn't try to be all things to all people, but stocks what's really interesting, and it's a nice place to hang out, socialize and have a glass of wine.

This is one of the best independent bookstores I've recently visited. They have a great selection of literary works, perhaps the largest poetry section I've seen in an American bookstore in the past half dozen years. Not only quantity, but also quality (interesting writers, varied traditions). They have an active series of events, and a nice bar at the edge... More

We get to Lenox most summers, and a trip to The Bookstore is a must event. Apart from the thrill of supporting an independent book shop, we invariably find tomes that we either didn't know existed, or simply can't live without. I don't know how so many treasures fit in so modest a space. My reading teacher bride especially enjoys... More

The probable reason you were able to buy the $30 book Matt wouldn't discount is that it was sent to a reviewer, who promptly bundled it with a few dozen other books received for review and dumped the lot on the used book market for a pittance. I don't blame you for buying at the best price (thereby enriching the... More

This family owned bookstore has something for everyone! I like to pick up Classic children's books for my kids here. The atmosphere is welcoming as you walk in and feel the wonder associated with so many books in such a great place! It is worth browsing at the very least.

Discovered this place on our first trip to the Berkshires. Great selection, real independent bookstore, and the owner Matt is a trove of information and stories. I bought two books I hadn't been looking for but found while browsing. Made me realize how important it is to support a real (and if possible non-chain) bookstore - could never have had... More

I'm so happy that I stumbled into this bookstore with my boyfriend Memorial Day Weekend 2013. Matt was working the store that day, and my boyfriend and I went in looking for newspapers to dry our sneakers out with, but ended up spending several hours at the bookstores drinking wine and chatting with the owner Matt. He kept our glasses... More

I really enjoyed browsing this bookstore and enjoying a glass of wine. The woman working that night was very friendly and helpful. The store isn't large and doesn't have every category of book, but it isn't easy these days to find one to browse in. You don't go here to find every possible book or get the best price (that's...
