An easy meandering set of fairly short trails skirting Beaver ponds, a stream, and wooded hillsides. Went for birding, but being a drizzly day, we didn't see any. However, the area is beautiful & a very enjoyable stop in Lenox. Dirt road to the parking area is level & easy to drive on.

They do charge to enter. If you are just after hiking try elsewhere. If you are after some nature info and learning then this is a nice place. Pick up a map at the entrance. Camp during the summer so plan accordingly. When quiet a very nice place.

For nearly a century, Pleasant Valley Wildlife Sanctuary has protected the valley and mountain slopes of the central Yokun Brook Watershed. Come here to hike (more than 10 miles of trails ranging from level to steep) to enjoy the natural beauty (forests, meadows, beaver ponds) and to learn about the natural heritage of the Berkshires at the Trailside Museum and... We hiked to the top of Lenox Mountain via the Trail of the Ledges at Pleasant Valley Wildlife Sanctuary and what a beautiful view at the top! This trail is quite steep but the nice part is that the hardest climb is the first 45 minutes and then you walk along the ridge where it is relatively flat until the... More

It wasn't easy finding a hike that was really a hike and not just an easy walk around a pond, but this place has both. My husband and I hiked the Ledges/Overbrook, 800 ft up, moderate to strenuous on the uphill and relatively easy on the downhill with a beautiful view over NY and MA from the top. Plan on... More

My husband was performing as a guest artist at Tanglewood. We had a free morning and spent it here. The serenity and natural beauty was exactly what we needed. If I lived close to here I would be here very, very often. I hope to return some day, spend more time and really explore the trails.

In the heart of the Berkshires, this is a well maintained sanctuary for birds and mammals. There are many choices of walking trails from 1/2 mile to 4+ miles and level or very hilly routes. Prices are very reasonable.

Great pace to go with kids. Be sure to look for the beavers. An evening trip is especially fun as the beaver are more likely to be seen then. They even have some night walks.
