Did a 90 minute tandem kayak paddle on the Housatonic River upstream down to Wood's Pond. Current was modest and the river was quiet with only a few birds and turtles in view. The pond itself is somewhat choked with vegetation.

Across the tracks from the scenic railway and at the base of October Mountain State Park the boat launch is great for kayaking on Woods Pond and up the Housatonic River. Lots of wildlife and views up this peaceful spot. Kayaks can be rented at Arcadian shop or other places.
