Taking a ferry is usually a dreaded experience for all island visitors & residents. Not here! We have been taking the ferry from Woods Hole to Vineyard Haven for years. Never once have we had an bad experience, even when it was last minute and chose to be put on the "waiting list" the communication and effort to "get us... More

We were stranded in Nantucket during one of their busiest weekends of the year. The Christmas stroll brings thousands of vacationers to the Island. Unfortunately, the weather for the return trip turned very bad. First the High Speed Ferries were cancelled and then some of the regular ferries were cancelled. There was chaos with people showing up and staying in... More

We were down in Nantucket for the Christmas Stroll and were the first and only boat to get out today at 6:30 am; every other one got cancelled due to high winds. The staff working at the terminal were not very helpful but the staff on board had a great sense of humor. They were also helpful providing barf bags,... More

Everytime I called in I got different answers. We had to cancel a reservation so they moved it out until April since it's not refundable that way we wouldn't loose the reservation. What they didn't bother to say was by doing so they had charged are credit card an extra $120 because the rates go up April 1st. They acted... More

Use the high speed passenger ferry between Hyannis and Nantucket. In the off season (December), it is not at all crowded, and the $50 same day round trip fare is reasonable. The ride is smooth, not much engine noise or vibration. At almost 40 mph, the trip takes just one hour flat. Even with choppy seas, the trip is enjoyable.... More

I do travel quiet often, very rarely experienced a complete TEERRRRIIIIBBBBBBLLLLLEEEEE ALLLLL THE WAY SERVICE as the Steamship Authority which I will never EVER TAKE IT AGAIN EVER !!!!!! Any trip to Cape Cod must be planned CAREFULLY AND WELL IN ADVANCE everything sells out quickly at a very expensive rate including the ferry to the islands. After canceling my... More

We were visiting friends on Cape Cod and mentioned that we had never been to any of the islands... so planned a day trip to Marthas Vinyard. We elected to travel the ferry system ( steamshipauthority.com) for just $16 round trip for the 45 minute ride. Beautiful weather enhanced the day as we sat on the bow seats of the... More

Took the high speed ferry to Nantucket for a few night stay. Some tips. Book your tickets online well in advance. The ferry does sell out. Get there in advance. If you are with someone else and have luggage you can drop them off with the luggage then go and park your car. Get the map for the 4 lots.... More

Took the fast ferry to Nantucket for a day trip and was able to take advantage of a $50 per person round-trip fare as we were traveling on a Monday. Made a reservation on the phone and picked up the tickets at the ferry dock. At The Steamship Authority dock in Hyannis we also signed up for a tour with... More

Take a tip, follow their posted schedules. The ships depart and arrive pretty much precisely when they say they will. Veyr friendly staff. If oyu do the morning trip from Hyannis to Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard, try their bloody marys. They run about $8, but you get plenty for the money and they are real tasty. Wonderful views, very erlaxing... More
