I used to take the ferry to work. Now as I near retirement I go to the islands for fun. This is my favorite ferry service. Always took it since Im young.

it takes forever to get there. Only alternative, a private boat,or fly in from Barnstable airport. Be sure to have accommodations on the island for at least 2 nights, so you can see what you were on the boat so long for.

Made a roundtrip with car and 3 passengers in March. Everything went smoothly, even in a snowstorm! Comfortable seating on the passenger deck if you don't want to stay in your car. TV and free wifi. Food and refreshments too!

Very punctual operations and the ship crew are very funny. They've been doing this for a while so the operations is near perfect. They have multiple lots to drop off your car if he main lot is full and there are stations at either dock for resting and waiting.

Taking a ferry is usually a dreaded experience for all island visitors & residents. Not here! We have been taking the ferry from Woods Hole to Vineyard Haven for years. Never once have we had an bad experience, even when it was last minute and chose to be put on the "waiting list" the communication and effort to "get us... More

We were stranded in Nantucket during one of their busiest weekends of the year. The Christmas stroll brings thousands of vacationers to the Island. Unfortunately, the weather for the return trip turned very bad. First the High Speed Ferries were cancelled and then some of the regular ferries were cancelled. There was chaos with people showing up and staying in... More

Everytime I called in I got different answers. We had to cancel a reservation so they moved it out until April since it's not refundable that way we wouldn't loose the reservation. What they didn't bother to say was by doing so they had charged are credit card an extra $120 because the rates go up April 1st. They acted... More

Use the high speed passenger ferry between Hyannis and Nantucket. In the off season (December), it is not at all crowded, and the $50 same day round trip fare is reasonable. The ride is smooth, not much engine noise or vibration. At almost 40 mph, the trip takes just one hour flat. Even with choppy seas, the trip is enjoyable.... More

I do travel quiet often, very rarely experienced a complete TEERRRRIIIIBBBBBBLLLLLEEEEE ALLLLL THE WAY SERVICE as the Steamship Authority which I will never EVER TAKE IT AGAIN EVER !!!!!! Any trip to Cape Cod must be planned CAREFULLY AND WELL IN ADVANCE everything sells out quickly at a very expensive rate including the ferry to the islands. After canceling my... More
