Not for expert skiers, this place is probably the best value and best maintained ski hill in the area. Lodges are serviceable and clean with the basics available (not fancy); equipment rentals are well kept & organized and the staff including lift operators, lodge staff, ski school, etc., are top notch. Most of all, it's the grooming that makes Butternut... More

Opened til Easter this year and the conditions were fabulous. The lift line was non existent and the trails were easy for us but good enough for excitement.

Staying in Great Barrington for a couple of nights we noticed, driving into town, how the Butternut dominates the town. No sign of any action today, although the ski slope is clearly visible. I think it says 1 1/2 miles from the centre of town to Butternut.

Easy mountain to ski. Well groomed. Great conditions this "spring". Nice day trip from CT. No high speed lifts. Excellent value, especially during the week.

We had a nice time at Butternut last weekend (3/15/2015). The kids wanted to go tubing. We parked right there so that we could even watch them from the car. It was very inexpensive $20 for 2 hours. (That was enough time. They wanted to go at right about 2 hours). I think the tubing is closed for season. But,... More

I've been skiing at Butternut since I was a little kid and the reason we keep going back is because it is great for my family now. While Butternut doesn't have any very challenging runs, it does offer a good selection of beginner through advanced intermediate runs, which means my kids can ski 100% of the mountain with ease. There... More

Far enough that we feel like we are escaping but near enough that we can ski during the day and still make it home at a decent hour. Our young daughter is still learning and we are significantly more experienced but Ski Butternut had a nice feel with enough terrain to keep the older kids busy. It is also small... More

Fab Fam Friendly! Very nice facility, great access from Boston & NYC--CT too. Divert topography, nice lodge and reasonable prices. Light years friendlier and nicer than that weathered dump down the road--Mohawk Mountain Ski Area in Cornwall CT, where you are treated like a slab of meat.

Large, wide, well groomed beginner areas for kids with patient and excellent ski instructors. Variety of terain for everyone. Big enough that it takes time to get down the mountain. Small enough that all trails converge at the base - great convenience for families.
