Loved the novice/beginner area and that there was a lodge near it so we could take break with the kids. Staff was super nice and helpful. Loved the snow tubing park as well!

Was there on a Tuesday and was very quiet. Absolutely now lift lines. And I took advantage of the midweek lodging/lift ticket special. For $45 I got a room at the Travelodge in Great Barrington 3 miles away AND a lift ticket. Amazing value. Not all of the lifts run during the week but given no lines it was fine.... More

We went with low expectation but was positively surprised. The staff were super friendly. I took a group lessen (end up only one so it was a private lessen)! :-D The condition was slushy but that was more due to the warm weather. Overall good neighborhood resort, we will definitely stop by again for a quick family getaway.

We come from the Caribbean and this Christmas holiday trip was supposed to be the first "snow experience" for my kids. Unfortunately the closest we got to snow was flurries. So my New Yorker brother decided to take us to Ski Butternut on a Sunday. The road from New York to Great Barrington via Connecticut was very scenic, we all... More

The weather was cold but they made snow, but was very icy. First time here and we were unfamiliar to the process. Its a little confusing, but they do a very nice thing they discount civil servants and their families. We appreciate that. We visited on January 2. ok, so overall I think the skiing is great. The problem is the lines and facilities. Our day started passing the rental line (fortunately we own) the line was at least 30 people deep. Then the line to buy lift tix, I'm sure I waited 30 minutes to pay $60 per person for a day... Kids all excited but got here and despite what I was told when I called there's only five of the eight lanes open. They had a sing saying 15 minute wait on top. Traveled over an hour to come and the kids still wanted to do it. Paid $20 for each ticket for a 2 hour lift ticket. Wait was... More

We arrived at 930 with our own skis, finally reached the top of the mountain for our first run at 11. Spent the day standing in lines for lift tickets, dirty broken bathrooms, lunch, snacks, lift lines, stuck on a broken lift. The slopes were so overcrowded people were bumping into each other. Two of my kids were knocked down... More

Skiing in this part of the Northeast relies on three things, all of which Butternut gets right: 1) Family Friendly - many programs for all levels of skiing from private lessons to groups and for kids race teams with multi-week programs 2) A Commitment to snowmaking - Butternut makes snow on all trails when they need to. That is they... More
