Our family has loved Ski Butternut for the last 7 years! We started coming to Butternut when our oldest was 6 and have loved coming back year after year. We have been season pass holders since 2008. It's the best deal for Winter entertainment with their affordable season passes. What else can you do outdoors as a family in New... More

Fun for families; the harder slopes aren't that difficult, which is nice for the kids, and in the evenings there's always Great Barrington.

We've skied Butternut for years. It's a small place, very family friendly. They take outstanding care of their trails, which are well designed and scenic. There aren't many of them - only 6 or 7 that come down from the summit, and all are basically intermediate, but they are particularly good intermediate trails - fun to ski. Their beginner hill... I live in Great Barrington, and have skied at this mountain for years. The very best part of Butternut is the grooming and snowmaking. Superb. The biggest downfall is crowds on weekends. If you are a weekend skier, and a serious one like me, you have to be there at opening bell, and will want to stop by 11:00 am... More

Took the family skiing for the first time ever about a month ago and had a fantastic time. Got there right at opening. We were lucky there was no wait, because an hour later, the lines were out the door and down toward the parking lot. This is not to say there weren't enough staff - on the contrary -... More

Took two lessons over a weekend. One terrific instructor (Mark), another who seemed to be getting a little impatient with my slow progress. But overall a very enjoyable weekend, with several other staff who impressed me with their encouragement and attentiveness. Can't wait to go back.

Let me first say that this has been my first season at Butternut and I have been extremely impressed with the Customer Service of the ski school. This review is for the multi-week snow boarding program (8 year old) and group lessons for snowboarding program (4 year old). Age of participant - 8 years old Ability - First time snowboarding... You can't beat the value with a season pass at Ski Butternut. While this is not a Killington or even an Okemo, it doesn't pretend to be. Very family friendly. Excellent ski school and racing program. Great option for those in the metro NYC area.

Butternut is a cool little mountain. Usually after 2-3 hours there I get bored, but when I first started snowboarding there it was amazing, but once you go to larger mountain harder to go back to smaller ones. For the proximity to my weekend home it isn't to far, so I will continue to go. The best part about this... More

A great place for our 1st time snowboards to take a lesson and have ample time to practice on smaller slopes. We went in mid-March with temps getting into the low 40's so early morning was better conditions but overall not crowded and a great experience.
