I ate at several of the restaurants on Main Street as well as shopped in many of the great gift and specialty shops. "Passports" is a wonderful restaurant with excellent service and delicious food.

Great eateries, consignment shops for funky clothes for a teen, amazing record store, and a jewelry shop with well kept secret estate items. Many artisan shops for tourists, but something to offer everyone including us locals.

If I were to move anywhere... it'd be to Gloucester. It's such a nice city and there's a lot to do. Tons of great places to eat and there's a candy shop, Turtle Alley Chocolates that I go out of my way to hit... and I don't even have a sweet tooth!

I am a local and there are very few shops I can afford on Main St. these days. I think what disappoints me the most is that the majority of the stores no longer reflect life in a small New England fishing town. I will say that I love Main St. in the snow around Christmas, but only for the... More

Main Street is VERY touristy - but then, most people there are tourists. Several good restaurants, a great shoe store, two bookstores, two drugstores - there is a lot to find on Main Street. Several times a year there are street fairs, also - autumn is a better time to experience this, as there are mostly locals then. Only problem... More

It is a great street with shops and restaurants with great food and small Italian coffee shops with nice dessers and espresso.

In other words, this is everything that Rockport's shopping area is not. The stores are actually affordable! A pleasant place to window shop, stop in a coffee shop, and relax.

Walking down the maritime streets and shops, taking in the sights and history, the harbor history and statues, and dining at the local restaurants was a pleasant break from traveling the many miles. The local folk are so enjoyable to talk with and listen to stories and gain their insights on the hotspots of the town. This is a most... More

I guess I'm used to the Rockport deal. Gloucester was a great big c.f. We were looking for a bunch of gift and souvenir type shops. Pretty disappointing. The Life's Good shop was o.k. and a place called Menage Gallery was really nice. The rest of pretty much sucked. It was off season so I can't even imagine what the... More
