The Thomas E. Lannon and the schooner, Ardelle are two of the best schooner trips in the harbor. They both tour the harborfront and then head out to the breakwater and beyond for a memorable sail. Beverages and snacks are available onboard. You can even have your own party aboard either schooner. The Ardelle and the Thomas Lannon and several... More

This was my favorite activity. The schooner itself is a work of art, and its builder is the captain (and his son). Imagine a mellow sail on a historic ship in one of the more scenic parts of the USA! Reasonably priced drinks and snacks, too. Loved it.

This latest 8-10-14 trip on the Schooner Thomas E. Lannon was my third sail. So, I guess you know I like it! The first time, it was a company event with only 8 of us. The second time, it was my wife and me. The third time, it was my, my brothers in law and my father in law. The... More

The cruise stays within sight of land and while you certainly have the up and down motion, this isnt a deep sea excursion. 40 bucks for 2 hours of distilled peace . The waves. The water. Nice people and rum punch available for 6 dollars. Its a no brainer.

This was our first sail on a schooner and we will definitely recommend to family and friends. The two hour trips is within Gloucester Harbor - great views of the harbor and neighborhoods. On a clear day you can see Boston (we did!). The Ellis family own the schooner and are terrific hosts, answered all questions folks had on a... More

This is the second time we took this 2 hour sailing trip in the afternoon on a sunny day. There was quite a bit of wind out on the water and the boat handled as if there was none. Not a bouncy ride, smooth as silk the boat rode the waves. The captain and staff are experienced. The boat is... More

A lovely, peaceful sail. Nice music with a sing along if you choose to. Beautiful vessel. Drinks available for purchase. Not a guided tour!

I really enjoyed the Captain and crew. As others have said, it's a lovely experiential ship but not a guided tour. If you go on knowing this, you'll have a delightful time. They offer snacks and the best rum punch I've ever had made from rum from the local distillery. You're encouraged to hoist the sails and can even steer... More
