The history and knowledge of the craftsman and the passion for producing their product is apparent from the second you walk through the door. It isn't often you get to go behind the scenes and see how it happens right in front of you.

Well worth seeking them out! Although not a place you just happen upon -- you need to know where you're going. My wife and I sampled all four of their spirits -- all excellent! But several as Christmas gifts and they too have received rave reviews. Doug couldn't have been more hospitable. Great to see a local family-run business selling... More

We had out-of-town guests who had already seen the local attractions. So we took a tour of Ryan and Woods' Distillery. It was fascinating--from the maritime origin of the company to production and distribution. We had recently enjoyed a drink at an upscale Boston restaurant featuring their product--so we were especially interested. P & L

I saw that the distillery offered free tours so I called to see if they were having the 1:00 tour, and was told yes. I was given a private tour which included a history of the distillery and the fishing and alcohol industries in Gloucester. I was shown the entire distilling process of their vodka, rum, gin, and rye whiskey.... More

Stopped in to check this out while we were staying in nearby Rockport. Owner was helpful and showed us around and explained the distilling process

I had a fun time. This is a small, family run business. The owners are really nice, and gave a very detailed explanation of the distilling process. The spirits are very good. It was the best gin I ever tasted.

This small distillery is a little gem, hidden away in Gloucester. Their gin is fabulous, full of exotic flavor. My husband loves their other spirits, but I am a gin girl. The owners are extremely knowledgeable and their tour is very informative. Highly recommended.

spent a long weekend in Rockport/Gloucester and was looking for things to do. Found online, and I'm glad we went there. Wife and I spent about 30 to 40 minutes with the owner (he did mention that the one in charge of the tours was his wife, but he'd do his best) and he did. He's friendly, can go into... More

This place is all about local business and making Gloucester the best place to visit. The R&W Distillery is a learning facility which made my family appreciate the art of alcohol production. Yes, there are tastings so be prepared for your taste buds to explode with flavor. This is only distributed locally so enjoy it if you can. If you... More

Went for the tour. The owner, Kathy, was very very personable and knowledgeable about the US history of distilling. After the tour, we sampled their spirits. Even though I don't like gin, I did try a sip. I still don't like it. Their rum was good, but I prefer white rum. Vodka was good. Bought a bottle of that. I... More
