Great view

Saw the sunset over New Bedford while the moon came up over Fairhaven. Nice and clean park. Nice watching the boats coming in.

For us on the MA Southcoast, this is important history. The Fairhaven Militia, a volunteer reenactment group, puts on various events, including encampments, to highlight local history. The leader of the group is a direct Mayflower descendent. All those we talked to were very knowledgeable and really fired up about it all. Check the Fort Phoenix website, through the state... More

Family friendly area to spend time taking a walk, playing frisbee, or laying in the sun or reading a good book. Children can run and play and enjoy the outdoors

Nice beach - not crowded, even on Labor Day weekend, but incredibly rocky and tons of seaweed. Decent bathroom. free parking!

Wow! We spent a good couple of hours with our toddler here this past week and he had fun digging and playing in the sand, watching the little fishies and the crabs. So much algae, seaweed on the banks and not the finest of sand. It was rocky and had lots of broken shellfish, we had to take an area... More

Small Fort. Great history. Good for kids. Hurricane barrier very interesting. Beach area typical with crushed shells and lots of seaweed. No one was in the water.

Went here today. Parking is free & VERY close to the beach. Bathrooms. You can sit on the grass or on the sand. Very rocky beach, but loads of creatures to capture. Jetty for kids to explore. All in all a nice quiet beach with small sandy area. Small waves. Lifeguards on one side. Met some very nice people as... More

The beach is fine for a walk and just to get near the water if you are enroute to some of the other fantastic beaches in the area. Water had a sulfur like smell and the beach is full of dry seaweed. They do have a lifeguard (at least on weekends that I know) but drive another 25-30 mins and... More

My partner and I stayed in Fairhaven for a few days in July. We were pleased to discover that Fort Phoenix offers a wonderful stretch of beach. It is a little rocky in places, but it was not crowded and the water was wonderful. Free parking, no crowds, nice views!
