More than meets the eye.

A very old fort that protected the city of New Bedford, and the town of Fairhaven. It is right on the water and you are free to roam around at one's leisure

Although not a lot remains of the fort .... It's still a nice spot to visit... Watch the fishing boats coming and going from the beach .... I think I saw picnic tables and stuff as well... I liked it... Got some great photos too!!

This spot is great for peaceful walks or some light swimming in the summer. It features a nice jetty for for biking or fishing as well. I would not recommend swimming on the left side of the beach as it is rocky.

Here is a state beach and park that is by the harbor which has a revonlutionary fort with canons. Plenty of free parking. A place to relaxe by the water and take in the salt air and view .

Nice place for views and scenic walk. Not much remaining of the original Fort but there are cannons and re-enactors on hand with a wealth of knowledge about the area during the American Revolution and the part the Fort played in the Civil War. While there walk out on the hurricane barrier and watch the boats . Great place to... More

don't leave right away..enjoy the after colors from the sunset and the sparkle of the water with the boats as a backdrop. This place offers much to many..just go and see. You can sit and read, walk your dog, swim, relax on the beach, fly a kite and so much more. Definitely worth the visit.

the most interesting part of this place is the remains of a Revolutionary fort which guarded the harbor

A great place for a long walk. Nice views of Buzzards Bay and the New Bedford hurricane barrier. The beach is very rocky but the water is clean and the facilities are good.
