Beautiful stop to relax and see the views. Watch the boats going and coming and listen to the water.

Nice place for views and scenic walk. Not much remaining of the original Fort but there are cannons and re-enactors on hand with a wealth of knowledge about the area during the American Revolution and the part the Fort played in the Civil War. While there walk out on the hurricane barrier and watch the boats . Great place to... More

don't leave right away..enjoy the after colors from the sunset and the sparkle of the water with the boats as a backdrop. This place offers much to many..just go and see. You can sit and read, walk your dog, swim, relax on the beach, fly a kite and so much more. Definitely worth the visit.

A great place for a long walk. Nice views of Buzzards Bay and the New Bedford hurricane barrier. The beach is very rocky but the water is clean and the facilities are good.

There are several plaques around Fort Phoenix or what remains of it as it is quite small that tell of its role in the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, and the Civil War. It commands a view of the Fairhaven/New Bedford Harbor. The park has a small beach and picnic tables. You can take a short walk over the... More

With the first naval battle of the Revolutionary war and the British marching through during the War of 1812, this fort/beach has much importance. The beach itself has nice scenery and must visit the cannons. A walk out on the hurricane barrier gives great views of the town center, harbor, and bay.

First naval battle of the Revolution took place here - great spot for a history teacher, and history buff! Loved the views of the harbor, and hurricane wall, as well as Buzzard's Bay. The cannons are cool, and you can walk on the wall out to the gates where the ships come through. Stop there and get out of the... More
