Fun waves!

A must see. We easily rode our bikes to the beach from Edgartown. The water was refreshing. The waves were big and the current strong that day.

A little too close together for my taste but pretty view. Beach is narrow so everyone is pretty close together. Liked the open beach between Edgartown and Oak Bluffs much more. Bathroom facilities near parking area. Definitely a must visit though. Great watching the planes take off from Katama Airfield nearby.

Stunning soft sand beach. Probably the nicest on the island. Unfortunately on the Atlantic side with pretty rough surf. Nice to look at, but harrowing to enter. The waves really knock you around, throw you into the sand, etc. It was too much for this middle aged guy (I tried it for a few minutes and really got thrown around)... More

Great location with easy access from the local bus that services 2 different drop off and pick up locations every 30 minutes at the beach. Great surf with a little undertow you need to watch for the little ones. It says you can't bring alcohol. But we kept our selves discrete with a 6 pack of cans and cookies. The... More

park on the road, not near the parking lot entrances and you will enjoy this beach much more. The entrances tend to be over crowded but the beach itself is great

This beautiful beach is kept just as God intended. The only services are some seasonal toilets near the parking area. This beach has waves, but beware of the undertow, especially after storms. No one should swim alone, but especially children.

South Beach could be great or terrible for you, depending on what you like. The sand and water are nice and refreshing. But surf is probably too strong for the timid, and the beach break due to the steep slope and erosion of the sand, doesn't allow great body surfing or boogie boarding. Access is about as easy as it... More

Liked the lifeguards and the ease of entry. Disliked the steep drop off- need to keep and eye on the kids

Probably the best beach we came across in Marthas Vineyard. Very soft sand and clean ocean, not much in the way of shells or sea life when we were there. Reminded me of New Jersey or east coast Florida beaches. Easy to bike to using the bike path along Katima Road with a large bike rack at the end of... More
