My youngest daughter was just three when we first visited. The waves wiped her out with sand in her nostrils, ears and anywhere else you can possibly think of. As a matter of fact, an outside shower is a must if you do the waves at this beach. The current can be strong and the air temperature is cooler than... More

Just a short walk through the trees from Winnetu...early morning I was the only one on it! Water might be a bit on the cold side but great for sandcastles!

What a gorgeous beach and it stretches for miles on the south shore of The Vineyard. Was here in the off season and it was quiet, but I am sure the beach is packed in the summer, especially around Katama. Get here early during season as parking will be an issue.

South beach is a mv must do....but get there early cause it gets full fast. Not the best beach but the place to be if you want to hang with family or friends and wander...life guards on duty and no open containers so bring solo cups and be discrete.

Huge, white sand wide Atlantic beach. THere are lifeguards on the beach and facilities nearby. Yes, it's crowded in the summer. Walk, don't drive. Gorgeous.

Being October and the evening-we walked on the beautiful beach and sat sheltered by the dunes to watch the amazing sunset. Can only imagine how perfect the beach would be in the summer

Great beach with a film history associated with Jaws. No sharks when we were there though! Easy to get to on your bike. Lovely.

When we were there there weren't many people on the island. The beach is flat and has white sand beaches that stretch in either direction.

We traveled to the Vineyard in September. We spent two or three hours at South Beach on two of our four afternoons. The days were beautiful, the water cold, the sand and sun warm. We traveled with friends and had a lovely time as we felt the beach was our own. Very conducive for reading, visiting and enjoying refreshments. Beautiful!
