One of the world's best wild undeveloped beaches ! And it's free.

Go anytime. It will not be crowded. It will be natural, unspoiled and open to all. I first travelled here almost 50 years ago as a high school student. Now I'm retiring and it is just as beautiful, almost exactly the same natural environment as in 1967.

This beach is excellent because it is free to attend. Beautiful dunes, rustic and very big waves. Delightfully perfect!

Here is our tip. Take the #8 bus out of Edgartown, stop at the Right Fork Diner and have breakfast. Then either hop back on the bus, or walk off that breakfast, down to the beach. We have down this twice now. We love the scenic walk, and how empty the beach is. We had miles to ourselves to enjoy.

We found this beach quite mid-June. We knew that there was some stormy weather out to sea so we headed here because we were told it had the largest waves.

Windy, waves crashing on the shore. Fishermen but not a lot of swimmers or bathers. Nice quiet beach to enjoy what nature has to offer.

I love looking at people enjoying themselves here. The surf is ripping when the wind is up, surfing, body surfing and fishing is always goof here. The sun worshipers love it and it si great for families. Go early

I love South Beach and so do my kids, we have friends that live in Chilmark and have been to their beaches also but they are private. I still like SB best becsue the sand is not as rocky and it seems cleaner.

Wonderful open beach with scenic dunes. We read about the ticks so I would suggest keeping away from the vegetation on the way to the beach. Glorious views.
