Undercurrent was really bad! My husband was knocked down several times. Water not good for children because of undercurrents.

seagulls will take your food right out of your hand. Beautiful beach worth the trip. Spend all day there.

South Beach is a long beautiful stretch of sand, but has rough waters and a strong undertow, so not great for swimming. I did enjoy walking along the shore, but wish I could have done more swimming as well.

One of the nicest beaches I have visited and will visit again and again; the surf is great and there is plenty of room on the beach. The South facing beach enjoys sunshine all day.

Take your towel and beach chair and sit on this pretty beach in Martha's Vineyard. Being a southerner, I found it too cold for my blood and spent most of the time wrapped in my towel.

We made the 30 minute drive from Vineyard Haven each day because this beach was great. Cool breezes, good waves, clean as can be, ample parking... If only they could warm the water about 10 degrees!

The absolute best beach for having fun in or out of the water. Make sure you bring your 4-wheel drive vehicle so you can drive on the beach and pick your own spot. You will have to buy a permit to get on the beach but you are there vacationing, enjoy it. You can pick the south side of the... More

The sand at this beach is the best on the island! If you plan to go swimming you need some experience as this beach has large waves and a strong under toe. Aside from that it is absolutely beautiful and easily accessible from across the street parking which is free.

This is a great beach for the day time and for night. Love coming at night and making a perfect bonfire to enjoy with friends and family. Just be careful with drinking alcoholic beverages on the beach. Remember red cups.

Have been to this beach many, many times when my family had a cottage on the Island. It is on the Atlantic Side of the Island so always has high surf. It is a large beach area, so you never feel crowded. You can walk to the Gayhead Light & cliffs. We loved it because it was rarely crowded.
