The beach just seems to go on forever. At this time of year there's very few people around and you therefor get the sense that's it's your own private beach. We sat there on the last night of our holiday and watched the sunset, what a perfect ending to a great vacation.

The beach was beautiful and easy to get to. It looks like the restrooms are being constructed so there are no working ones for now.

Not a beach for swimming because the slope is steep and the waves and currents can be treacherous. Vast expanse of sand and water with tremendous views; perhaps, it can best be described as a photographer's beach. The light, clouds, sand and water can create beautiful images -- of the kind that make people say "that can't be real." Access... More

Definitely the longest, nicest beach on the island (which isn't saying much - MV doesn't have a lot of beach access). Gently sloping white sand to the water, plenty of parking, bus stop right at the main entrance. No amenities - pack in, pack out.

South Beach is a very nice beach on Martha's Vineyard. It is great for Boogie Boarding and Surfing because of the rough waves. It is in a very nice location(the Katama section of Edgartown). I would definitely reccomend going to this beach.

This is a great beach with lots and lots of sand stretching for a very long distance. There are usually nice waves here without being over powering. There are not too many rocks on the beach or at the waterline which I enjoy a lot. The # 8 bus takes you out there from Church St in Edgartown for $1... More

South Beach is very busy during the summer season since it's on the Atlantic and subject to waves and currents. So it's not friendly for small kids, but great for older ones. There are changing facilities, but no restrooms in the off season.
