This cast iron lighthouse which was built in 1881 originally stood at Crane Beach in Ipswich, Massachusetts but was moved to Edgartown in 1939 where it's been standing watch over the harbor and Chappaquiddick Island ever since. Over the years, sand filled in the area so that the lighthouse is now standing on a beach and it's a popular site... More

We stayed across the street and took a lovely walk out to the lighthouse. It was not opened while we were there but it was an enjoyable walk that kids would love. Great shells and beach in front of the lighthouse.

Winter in New England can be harsh and the wind here can howl but if you enjoy sitting by a fire with a good book, the solitude and view are spectacular.

When we travel, we love to visit places like this. Small in comparison to other lighthouses but the scenery and ease of getting to the lighthouse were worth the trip. The Edgartown Lighthouse is a must see for anyone visiting MV. The beaches are amazing, so far the best beaches I've seen on the East Coast. The Lighthouse was not... More

Great location, situated directly across the way from The Harbor View Hotel and just a short walk from the center of town. Nice beach to walk around and the hotel has a pier there, too. Very scenic! Great spot for pictures!

This lighthouse is walking distance from the center of Edgartown and is on a small beach. Good place to go with kids. Very short walk up. I forget if there is a charge, but if so, it wasn't much. Between the road and the lighthouse, there is another beachy area and a pond where dogs can go before 9am. Our... More

This was right in front of our hotel, so very close to walk to. It wasn't open for us to go inside, but we enjoyed the beach area around it as well.

For a small fee you can climb to the top of the lighthouse and take in the beautiful scenery. Very quaint and very "Martha's Vineyard". Recommended.

We so happened to go when they were having their annual memorial festival for the children who lost their lives too soon. At the base of the lighthouse are bricks with children's names on them marked to serve as a memorial. There is a great story behind this and I reccomend checking it out. Since this memorial was happening it... More
