A walk in the Fall

A beautiful fall day, stunning views... a nice way to spend some quiet time as you walk along finding those perfect shells... called scallops!

Beautiful picture opportunity. I am sure this beach is crazy crowded in the summer but very peaceful in the fall.

We cycled to this beach on the trails that lead right to it. Such a beautiful beach with lovely soft sand. Ideal for families and there were plenty of them enjoying it. So nice that it is unspoilt and completely natural.

We were at Katama Beach on a mid-September day. Not only was it warm enough to swim but the beach was not crowded and parking was a breeze.

This beach is really fantastic. The sand is clean and the water has nice, fun waves. The water was not too cold and felt refreshing. A must see if you are on the vineyard!

Great beach. Not so awesome as South Beach but turn left to Norton Beach where you can DRIVE ON THE BEACH! Probably the last time my 87 year old dad will put his feet in the sand. And yes, let the air out of your tires to 15 PSI. 25 PSI will humiliate you.

Very cool to drive out onto the beach. Most people back in with their SUV's to have all your stuff nearby. No walking any distance. It was a bit pricey $ 60.00 for a one time visit $ 140.00 for the Season. When you approach the beach you reduce your tire pressure to 15 lbs, driving on the sand is... More

The best waves hands down on Martha's Vinyard. We took a taxi down and changed in the changing rooms. It was a beautiful day and the waves were heavy. It takes a bit to get across the pebbles from the shore to the soft sand, but once your there you can body surf. If you have a 4wd vehicle, you... More

Katama (aka South Beach) in Edgartown, Ma. This is a great beach for waves and body surfing. It has lifeguards, but the surf can get rough for little children. The sand is soft and there are many areas that access the beach. There are also changing areas and port-o-potties for bathrooms. There are parking areas on either end of Herring... More

Nice, quiet beach. Very few beach goers. Easy access and free parking. Great sand, not too many shells or rocks. Of all the beaches we went to on the island, this one had the coldest water and biggest waves.
