Cape playhouse was at one time a great place to see a good play with known actors. Now it is an overpriced underperforming hall of the past. No or little air conditioning makes watching a play during the summer akin to sitting in a steam bath. There are other area playhouses on the cape just as good at half the... More

Dear JJApples, I wanted you to know that last year we replaced our air conditioning system with a new, powerful setup and it keeps the audience quite comfortable. I do apologize for the past seasons where the Playhouse could become uncomfortably warm. Thank you for your feedback. It can only help us improve. Best regards, Mimi de Quesada More

Aside from it's storied history and its charming architecture it actually has the only professional summer performances on Cape Cod. Most of it's offerings are musicals; the rest of the season is filled primarily with comedies. These are professional actors, directors and set designers and it shows. It also offers summer programs for children during the daytime.

We love to attend a production here each summer when we visit the Cape. There are some very good performances by local actors and actresses. The seats aren't very comfortable, but there is an intermission.

Thank you for taking the time to review our venue. Being The oldest summer professional theater in America, does take some effort and we're glad you appreciated our history, character and charm. We are delighted to entertain our audiences with the the very same talent you'd see on and off Broadway and we hope to see you and your friends... More

Visited the Cape Playhouse for the showing of "Almost, Maine".. The venue is set in a former Barn looking meeting house. Lots of parking. The air conditioner was kind of loud when the show began, but as promised, the blower was shut down shortly after the start and the place stayed cool and we could hear the play very well.... More

We decided to see Pump Boys at the Cape Playhouse. The show was fun. The cast was great. Since shows change on a regular basis, perhaps more of this review should reflect the theater. This is an old theater. Acoustics In the theater are good. We sat in the balcony and had no trouble hearing actors on stage. The cast... More

Good summer theater. Old fashioned setting in a wood building. Plenty of seating. Of course each show stands in its own merits, but we have rarely been disappointed with quality of the productions. Sets are unusually good in my opinion. This time the Pump Boys and Dinettes was an entertaining near 100% upbeat musical. We had fun. Summer theater not... More

We saw Pump Boys and Dinettes and it was so well done! Better than when we saw it in Chicago! The cast was just amazing and the music was so enjoyable and entertaining! It was a rainy day and I am so glad we went to this show. The only negative thing I can say is that is was quite... More

We went to a matinee and it was 1/2 full......... it might be two tickets in the orchestra was $149.00. I think for this you should have the BEST........this play is something we had seen 20 years ago and it was way better in Amana, Iowa. I just think they need to shift gears and get better, more reasonable and... More

Wanted to take my family to the historic Cape Playhouse as I visited many years ago for an evening play as a teenager. I bought tickets for the magician in July and it was fantastic. My daughters aged 5 and 7 enjoyed it very much and the Playhouse is something special to see. We headed out to the lawn after... More
