I Love Lighthouses!

I love lighthouses and this one was easy to love. The Chatham Lighthouse, known as Twin Lights prior to 1923. The station was established in 1808, the second light on Cape Cod.

We went on a Wednesday and the docent there took a group of us up to the top and told us many interesting facts about the history of the lighthouse.

Can tour lighthouse on specific days and climb up inside to the top. Fun! It's an actual working lighthouse owned by the Coast Guard so not open every day for tourists.

Very pretty setting and a little local history so great for a photo opportunity. It's also only a stroll from the town.

Across the street from the beach - it is a beacon for anyone staying in the area. Not as quaint as most of the others that are right on the beach, but very New England in its feel. Across from it is parking, and coin operated viewers so that you can look out over the water. Very popular stop! My... More

I loved everything about Chatham, MA. Normal residency is 6000, but lots more during the summer! Lots to see and do, including of course the Chatham Lighthouse. Nice restaurants, shops, art galleries and Sharks in the Park! Also visited the Nauset Light and Three Sisters Lighthouses while in the area.

It was cool to see a working lighthouse and catch the views of the ocean from the parking lot / scenic overlook. From the overlook, you could see the vast beach area and the sand bars due to to recent storms that have hit the area. It was also nice to go down the steps and walk onthebeachfor a few... More

Cute little lighthouse. Good beach walk. Saw some seals. They have pay to view binoculars overlooking the shore, but for 25 cents you get about a minute. Not enough time to spot much! Nice parking area.

The lighthouse is interesting as it is still in use. Unfortunately, that means you can't go up in it or really explore the lighthouse per say. However, the lighthouse is set on top of a beautiful piece of shoreline. It is worth the stop to walk down on the beach and see the beautiful ocean scenery spread out all around... More
