We had the pleasure of doing their three hour canal cruise, which takes you from the Onset Harbor to the end of the canal. The narrator gave outstanding facts about the canal and the guide Steve walked around to see if anyone had any question, he has so much knowledge to share... Great family trip... If you are in the... Hard to review something like the Cape Cod Canal. If you take the cruise from Onset, you learn a lot of history and get to view many points of interest not obvious to the casual boater. If you go to the Railroad bridge, you can traverse the 7 mile walking/biking/other trail. On a clear, sunny day, this is an experience... More

I am a walker and the two mile down and two mile back along the canal path was perfect. The canal wild flowers and birds made my daily walk so much more fun, as did the many people walking, skating and bicycling down the path. Even saw a beautiful sail boat on the canal one morning.

There are so many views along the canal. Great place for walkers, runners and bike riders. The path is flat and runs along the canal. You can watch or admire fisher people or see a couple holding hands strolling along. The train bridge is beautiful and an exciting site when part of the bridge lowers so trains can cross the... More

I grew up on the Cape and on a recent visit took the Cape Cod Canal cruise out of Onset. It was such a pleasant surprise. We took the 3 hour tour. There was a short history of the Canal by the tour guide. It was very informative. I learned a lot! It takes you the whole length of the... More

But we love the tow path along the Canal too. We use this to run, bike, blade and walk for exercise. Always something to see on the canal be it sail boats, trains, guys fishing, scenic tour boats etc… We love it as it allows us to work off all the calories we have consumed the day before. If you... Lots of boats going through. Saw a Boston Whaler, some interesting tugs and an Army ship gp through. Check out the train bridge, beautiful structure.

I have been going to the Cape Cod Canal since I was a small child. Along this 8 miles paved stretch, you can walk - bike - run - sit - fish - picnic .. daydream! At one end, the Cape Cod Canal rail bridge, is a park that often has events happening in it - at the other end... More

The idea of the canal started in the 1600's and was not feasible for another 200 years. Beautiful shoreline. A boon to ships who were subject to storms and heavy seas around the Cape and an engineering marvel for marine ,railroad and automobile travel. The MMA is also at the entrance from Buzzards BAY.(Massachusetts Maritime Academy), Great fishing too. We... More

I was unaware of the history and existence of the Cape Cod Canal. I found it fascinating and would love to return with my family and bicycles! The bridges, construction, geography and history are superbly explained at the Cape Cod Canal Visitors Centre at the eastern end of the canal (in Sandwich). The area is relaxed (at least on a...
