Totally enjoyed!

Captain Ed was a wonderful guide. We learned so much! I would highly recommend! We dredged for oysters, he explained how to tell the age and when to harvest.

My husband and I decided to participate in the evening sail on the Skipjack H. M Krentz while vacationing in St. Michaels. Since we both enjoy being on the water (we have sailed for years), we knew that we would have fun on this historic craft. Even with those expectations, our tour of the river and its oyster beds proved... More

Thanks to Captain Ed & crew for a fun holiday weekend sail. We had about 14 folks head out for a morning on the water. Interesting history, marine biology & oyster industry lesson along the way. Very relaxing and a joy if you sail or like boating history. As another poster noted, the cruise may be a little long for... More

Captain Ed is very entertaining and engaging with all of us passengers. I was impressed by the ship, it's heritage, and that he was able to sail it alone. The ship is very stable, but unfortunately it was not very windy, so our ride was not as exciting as I had anticipated. If you want to learn about skipjacks, this... More

Everything was perfect...the weather, the boat, and the captain! After reading the Washington Post article about Captain Ed, I thought it was time that our group of Baltimore friends learned something about the watermen on the Chesapeake. We were not disappointed! Captain Ed taught us about the history and geography of the bay and about the oysters and the environmental... More

We went to St. Michael's for our anniversary quick get-away and took a sail on the HM Krentz with Capt. Ed Farley. We were the only passengers that day and Ed was gracious in setting sail. It was a great time- Capt. Ed is a tale teller and has a vast store of info re. geology, ecology and marine life... More

We had a great day on the miles river. The captain was very informative on the history and geology of the area. It was great to experience the historic skip jack. You will witness how the skip jack's harvested oysters. Call the captain make reservations

This was a great experience. The boat was clean. Both the Captain and the Mate were very engaging and they took their time answering our questions. The only down side was the group of thirty year olds celebrating a birthday. They were more interested in drinking canned wine and themselves than the excursion. Once the Captain and the Mate moved... More

If you love history, science and geography this trip is for you. While enjoying a calm sightseeing sail your eccentric sailing sea Captain will wow you with his incredible knowledge of the Chesapeake and beyond. BYO drinks and snacks and hit the head before boarding.

Having seen a non-working example of a beautiful 70 foot Skipjack sailing vessel lying dormant on the grounds of the Maritime Museum imagine our astonishment when my wife and I found a fully seaworthy working example for hire later that afternoon. Plans for an afternoon sail were quickly put together with the result that we met Captain Ed Farley and... More
