Fun and informative

Loved learning how the lighthouse worked and how the keepers lived. It was very lonely and I am sure very hard work

the lighthouse had hands-on exhibits on each floor that represented the function and lifestyle of a typical light house resident. the hands-on exhibits made it especially appealing to the families that were there, and the children enjoyed checking out all the different displays. a good view from the top across the water as well, even on a cloudy day.

It won't take long to see the lighthouse, but it is "real"unlike most "attractions." Beyond its inherent beauty is its simple function. Go, appreciate. Remember. Come back in a few years and make the "house" yours. Okay, now join the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum (who keeps the lighthouse.). Very cool things to see and experience and none of the overprocessed... More

The top of the lighthouse was very hot on the July afternoon we visited, but the view was more than worth going up for. You couldn't go out on the top level on our visit, but the view through the windows was still great. It's also full of the stuff that would have belonged to a lighthouse keeper and visitors... More

It was easy to picture what the light keeper's life was like. The artifacts told the story. There were no interpretive signs. It felt like someone's home, not a museum. I expected the keeper to walk through any minute.

Authentic exhibit. Great look out point! The true lighthouse from 1879 was moved to the CBMM when it was no longer needed at Hooper Strait. Set up to show the life of a light keeper back in the day! very educational & interesting.

I enjoy old homes and other old structures, so this lighthouse was right up my alley. It's part of the Chesapeake Maritime Museum, which is worth a visit. This lighthouse used to stand out in the water, with each leg screwed into the seabed. Now that it has been moved to land, you're able to tour the house and see... More

It was the highlight of our trip to the Chesapeake Maritime museum by far and for good reason. Crazy neat and fun history here on display for museum goers to explore. Cool water views and fun to see the lighthouse and it's belongings, almost as if things inside were frozen in time. Cool place.

We enjoyed our visit to Hooper Strait Lighthouse. Admission is included with admission to the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. Visitors to the lighthouse are free to peruse the displays inside the the lighthouse depicting what life was like for the lighthouse keeper and his family. There are three stories, accessible only by a spiral staircase. A beautiful view awaits you... More

When you're at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michaels, do not leave without visiting the Hooper Strait Lighthouse. It's on the museum campus, right next to the Miles River. For a great view, go all the way to the top. It's a great opportunity to see how the lighthouse keepers lived before all the lighthouses were automated.
