This lighthouse was great for kids because its hands on... turn a crank and make the lighthouse bell sound, and they encourage you to open all the drawers and doors in the lighthouse. Love that! They even have a lighthouse keeper picture on the wall that comes to life with a video... I love those surprises !

I have visited many lighthouses, but this will be one of the most memorable. It is unique and I love the way that encouraged folks to look at everything... and the bathroom sign... I will be chuckling about that for years to come! A must-see when you visit the CBMM in St. Michaels.

It was a lot of fun to learn how a lighthouse keeper lived while tending to his work. The CBMM did an amazing job of outfitting the building with everything a lighthouse keeper would use. It's also really nice to have the ability to climb the tower to the top, feel the breeze and take in the beautiful view.

What an interesting experience! I have never been in a lighthouse, and relished the idea of going into this one. What a treat!

This is interesting and adds a lot to the other offerings of the Museum. Climb to the top is easy and worth the view. Would be fun for the children in you group.

Unique, worthwhile experience. I have seen lighthouse all over the east and west coast but this one is a miniature version with props that take you back in time. You get to really feel what it would be like to love in such a small space with such a big responsibility. With a trip, on the grounds of the museum.

It's the main attraction in the CBMM, and St. Michaels. Lovely to look at, and explore. Ascend the steps of the Hooper Strait Lighthouse and travel back in time. Learn how 19th century lighthouse keepers tended their station, Visitors can climb to the sea hatch, tend the huge lens, or stand watch on the lookout for ships. A fun place... More

The lighthouse has been moved to the Maritime Museum in St Michaels from its original site. The museum and lighthouse are a good way to get the flavor and history of this old town and the Chesapeake Bay. Two hours is about all you will need.
