Always enjoy lighthouses - the one was an interesting tour as there are a number of displays inside, and visitors have free reign to look around at their own pace. This is a great attraction for the family, history buffs, or lighthouse enthusiasts!

I recently went to St. Michael's and toured the 1879 Hooper Strait Lighthouse. It was a very well restored building and the items on display were really interesting. Makes you appreciate our modern conveniences so much more. The view from the top of the lighthouse is quite remarkable. The cost to enter the park was $15.00; which to me was... More

This is part of the Chesapeake Maritime Museum and is not your typical tall striped lighthouse. The building is octagonal and has several levels. Displays show how the keeper lived; families not allowed due to danger of this type of building being demolished by ice and other weather problems. Great views of the Miles River and entrance to the Bay... More

What a walk through. A very enjoyable and educationally rewarding experience. The display showed what it was like to be a lighthouse keeper

The lighthouse is impressive. You can visit the interior rooms to see how the light keepers lived. Rooms are authentically appointed. Best of all, you can go all the way to the top to see the birds-eye view from the top!

Small compared to the tall ones out there. However, the life of a lighthouse keeper was nicely displayed. Good self guided tour, great questions to ponder especially for kids. Ok and the guy in the bunk scared me! Didn't expect it. Fun and educational!

Took a drive to see the Lighthouse. Very interesting. There are so many different types of lighthouses and like to see what each are like.

The best part of touring the Chesapeake Maritime Museum! Touring the 18th century Hooper Strait Lighthouse brought here to rest. You can walk through all rooms with artifacts from the days when the keepers lived there 5 miles out to see for months at a time and get to know their duties - and harsh life conditions.

This lighthouse was great for kids because its hands on... turn a crank and make the lighthouse bell sound, and they encourage you to open all the drawers and doors in the lighthouse. Love that! They even have a lighthouse keeper picture on the wall that comes to life with a video... I love those surprises !
