Nice drive, but not much there except the water. We were staying in St. Michaels and took a drive out there to see what was there. Just about 2 restaurants.

Spent a long weekend between St. Michael's and Tilghman Island. Tired from kayaking and swimming all morning, coupled with increased heat and humidity, we headed a few extra miles and made the circuit around Tilghman Island. Nice, quiet layed back. Found a good location to put our kayaks in, can't wait. Ogh yes, nice views from the Naval Research Laboratory... More

Drove to Tilghman Island to "discover" what it was like. Charming retirement/vacation village with what appeared to be very limited facilities (shopping, restaurants, groceries, gas, etc.), which is fine if you are vacationing there and plan to drive the 20 minutes to St Michaels for services (or you brought your own boat), but a bit more limited in appeal for... We had a house right on the water but you couldn't get in the water because if was FULL of jellyfish. Nice view on the area but I would have liked to be able to swim and cool off. Maybe it would be better at a different time of year.

I drove to Tilghman Island after visiting St. Michaels. You cross a cool drawbridge to access the island. From there I drove down to the end of the road, past the Navy Research Lab station to the Black Walnut Inn. On the way I passed through the town, saw a restaurant and some developments. Not much else caught my fancy.... More

This is our first trip to Tilghman Island. We came for the tour of the lighthouses and stayed at the Lazy Jack Inn. We like to walk and that was limited as the road shoulder is narrow. The good thing is the traffic was courteous and gave us plenty of room. The tour of 5 lights was great fun and... More

Nice layed back place to go see, but don't expect anything other than small town type atmosphere. However, GO GET SOME GREAT FOOD at Harrisons. All the people in the know go there. Crabs are running fantastic right now. Buffet is good and simple with wonderful fried chicken and fixins. But the AYCE Crabs are superb. And at 35 pp... More

Several Hours from Baltimore, this well kept Secret and Serene Island is Fabulous. There are several modes to each this place; either drive or sail the Chesapeake! An extremely cool and eclectic town filled with great restaurant's, gift shops, bars and of course the tourists. However; the locals are friendly and down to earth! Highly recommend you are well versed... More

We had a wonderful 2-hour kayaking trip. The staff was friendly and helpful. The ocean kayak was in excellent condition. We were given a "trail" map where we could visit. We enjoyed herons, egrets, osprey, and a curious gathering of cattle. Highly recommended.

Tilghman Island is a slow-paced location on MD's Eastern Shore with a lot of watermen, some good restaurants and some terrific water views. Be sure to follow the road all the way to the very end of the island for a great view of the Bay and the Choptank River.
