We're fortunate in being able to visit the Ladew Topiary Gardens twice a year. If you love flowers and topiaries or, if you're just in that state of mind where you want to commune with nature, you'll enjoy your time here. You can pay extra to tour the mansion of Harvey Ladew as we did the first time we visited.... More

There are mostly gardens, and a little bit topiary. There are many nice gardens full with flowers. You can skip butterfly house - you can see the same butterflies outside Take a pleasant walk on the trail around the property.

We were at Ladew Gardens for my niece's wedding. What a beautiful venue. We arrived early so we could stroll around the gardens before the ceremony. It had been more than 20 years since we were there previously. The garden is a delight. There are many whimsical topiary figures and various, named, small enclosed garden areas such as the white... Well Manicured, nice flat grounds, beautiful topiaries so fine it takes your breath away, wondering how they did such a fine job. Nice place to have a picnic in a quit area. Parking is great, access is right off the Jarretsville Pike not far from the Manor Tavern and very close to Jacksonville Md. Across from the field they hold... More

Recently visited this lovely garden. There are a few things you should know before going however. If a visitor has to have a wheelchair, the places they can view are extremely limited. I was told when buying ticket, if they had 3 days notice they would have a special docent there with a golf cart. I did not see any... More

Visited on a gorgeous day. Took tour of house which think skip. The butterfly house is interesting and the garden rooms are lovely. All staff encountered were friendly and helpful. Although only one room designated as waterlily garden, there are many aquatic plants displayed. A beautiful place to spend time.

I have been to Ladew a number of times and it's always a delight. The new butterfly exhibit adds another wonderful feature. Inside the large screened enclosure are native butterflies caught on the property and brought into the enclosure. Inside they are provided with the nectar plants for the adult butterflies and the food plants for the caterpillars. You can... More

This was an unexpected surprise. I did not know what to expect behind the wooden fence but WOW! We went on July 26th. There were several plants with blooms but I think it would be really nice in the spring.

Almost too large and too complex to be understood in one visit. We visited in July and many things were blooming, others had bloomed previously. The site map provided visitors was helpful and actually necessary for one to get a handle on the most complex landscape with dozens of garden "rooms." Many, if not most, of the plants were labeled...
