It's hard to believe you're only a few minutes out of Baltimore (no offense, Hon) at this place. I've spent most of my life in Maryland, and I had no idea Harford County was so beautiful, so give yourself some time to drive around the county while you're here. The hedges are amazing and the topiaries are wonderful, as are... More

We come here once or twice a year and it always makes me happy. The themed garden areas make it fun for everyone. The yellow garden is always perky and children will love the little stream that trickles through it. Everyone will love spotting and hearing the frogs in every pond and stream. My favorite spot is the relatively new... More

The flowers and shrubs blooming in early May were gorgeous. Try to go during the week, early in the day. Be prepared for school groups. Wear comfortable shoes.

An old friend and I visited the Ladew Gardens in late April. The daffodils were on their way out, the Virginia Bluebells were near their peak, and the tulips were just starting to open. We toured the main house and got a docent who had been working there for the past 30 years! The two of us were her only... More

Meticulously maintained. Friendly staff. Very informative guide through home. Plenty of parking. On site café. Concerts and plant sales during the summer.

I've wanted to visit the gardens for some time but it is a long way from home. We finally made it this past weekend and (through no fault of staff) spring is a bit late in arriving this year. There was not much blooming outside daffodils but the topiaries were beautiful. The mansion tour was well worth the additional fee.... More

Holiday events, and summer concerts are the best. Just went to a Talking heads tribute band concert inside the gardens this past year. You bring a picnic basket, chairs and enjoy wandering around the grounds. great for the whole family.

Visited with 3 of my female friends on a lovely fall day. We toured the house first -- led by a wonderful guide named Carl (who had also been our guide at historic Hampton House.) Carl pointed out numerous interesting details about the home, and entertained us with anecdotes about its owner, Harvey S. Ladew. Mr. Ladew inherited a fortune... More

I was running really for an errand nearby when I spotted signs for the garden. I'm not big into plants or gardening, but figured "Why not?". I was kind of just expecting a very pretty 18th or 19th century style garden, but boy was I surprised. The garden is just breathtakingly gorgeous! I was blown away at how many plants... More
