Ladew is beautiful. We went on a sunny gorgeous day...not too hot. We walked the gardens and a trail. My young children loved running through the big open areas and I took some great pictures. There are quite a few water features and a pond with koi. We had lunch, which was great! The food was reasonably priced and the... More

I have visited Ladew every summer for six years with my sons, ages 8 and 12. It is a favorite place to spend a summer afternoon, and my boys ask to go back every year. I hate to give Ladew a bad review because it is a beautiful place, but the staff this year made it extremely unpleasant. We arrived... More

Random find and what wonderful place to take in the wonderful gardens on a beautiful day. We do not live locally but purchased a membership so we would be sure to come back in spring or fall

We had an informative and fun tour of the mansion. Not only did we see the house and furnishings but heard the history and stories as well. It was interesting and humorous at the same time. Then we strolled through the different gardens, each planted to reflect a different theme or visual feeling. It was wonderful ! I will go... More

This is a grand estate with home and gardens on the National Register, for good reason. If you enjoy exquisite taste in furnishings, a gorgeous country setting and vistas, a chain of color and texture-themed gardens, much less the internationally recognized topiary creations, this is a must destination. Our knowledgeable docent and cafe on the grounds simply added to the... More

There were many different themed gardens in which the flowers had already bloomed or were just blooming when we visited in May. It was like a fairytale secret garden. So many different variety of trees also. We had lunch in the cafe which was also very nice. Give yourself hours and hours to spend exploring.

I have lived near Ladew Gardens all my life. It was one of those places that you say "Oh I'll go one day". My daughters took me there for Mother's Day and I was amazed that this place had been there all along and I had never gone. It was beautiful and relaxing. It was a lot of walking but... More

Even though Ladew is billed as a 'topiary garden', it is much more. The large estate has many garden areas that lead you around the property. A 'yellow garden' was blazing with yellow shrubbery, grasses, flowers and off-set with a dark maroon-red Japanese maple. The 'pink garden' had more shades of pinks than you could imagine. White climbing roses lining... More

Ladew bills itself as being a topiary lover's paradise, but my wife and I were suprised that there were not more topiaries, and that they tended to be concentrated in just a few areas. We were also surprised that a number of bushes weren't particularly well-trimmed when we visited on Memorial Day. Even so, if you are in the Baltimore... More
