Overlooked the frozen chesapeake! Has a great history "tour" as you walk on plaques regarding the war of 1812.
This boardwalk follows the Chesapeake shoreline of Havre de Grace Maryland. Beautiful panoramic views of the bay, sport boating, commericial vessels, and abundant wildlife, since this area is on one of the major north/south flyways for migrating water fowl. It is an easy walk and suitable for all ages.
Grab an ice cream cone from The Promenade Grill and take a leisurely stroll around the Promenade. Stop and read the signs posted about wildlife, historical events; you will learn some very interesting things!
Walking on the Havre de Grace Promenade is one of my favorite jaunts. Seemingly every time I make that part of my daily walk I'm always surprised by either ducks and herons or the cloud formations, or the boats that go by. It is so relaxing!
We started at the marina area and walked the short distance to the lighthouse. It's a nice walk along the bay that is punctuated by signs that tell the role Havre de Grace played in the War of 1812 and about the Chesapeake Bay.
It is a 1/2 mile long walkway which begins at Tydings Park and ends at the Havre de Grace Lighthouse,Yacht Basin to Lafayette Street. A great place for a walk and a favorite of local joggers. The promenade is a nice experience especially if you've eaten at a local restaurant and would like to take a walk to get a little exercise for digestion. Or just take the walk for the pleasure of it. It's great for kids and photographers. Very nice scenery. Great place to just sit and relax.
the walk along the promenade is beautiful, the water, the sky, the boats. there are always lots of birds, turtles, and sometimes you can see fish in the waters. a nice walk with nature.
The rebuilt Promenade is sturdy and just long enough along the Chesapeake Bay to enjoy the view. Big problem is a lot of the railings are full of spiders and webs. You have to watch were you put your hands and leaning against the wooden railings.
Views of the bay, views of the Susquehanna river, views of wild life. A wide, modern boardwalk entices you to spend a leisurely hour or so contemplating nature at its best.
