A restored caboose and a large model railroad display are available for viewing. Be ware as this site requires climbing stairs and steps. This site appears to be a nice... More

We have been to the larger B&O RR museum in Baltimore, and in other cities. This Ellicott city train station museum is good for what it is - a small, preserved 1800s train station. Pictures, narratives, the building, and it's environs, give victories a a good chance to see artifacts of the early railroad era, and imagine what competition existed... More

Small museum with lots of interesting RR history and artifacts. The place really does enhance the already charming town/village of Ellicott City. If you are a "rail-fan" spending less than an hour is insufficient.

Excellent museum. Easy parking. This museum is a MUST VISIT if you are in the DC-Baltimore area. Beautiful restored round-house. Many locomotives and wagons. At least worth half a day visit.

We always enjoy visiting this place. It's small but fun. The train display is always a treat, you learn a bit about railroads and the history around Ellicott City.

While the museum itself is quite small and uneventful, it is an historic landmark worth noticing during a visit to Ellicott City. A beautiful stone building, the station adds to Ellicott City's already charming historic atmosphere, and is nice place for photo ops. It's worth noting that this is the site of the famous Tom Thumb vs. horse drawn carriage... More

Something for visitors of all ages, train buffs, history buffs, little kids. The bonus is that a real train runs right by the museum at intervals announced by the ringing of the bell so that everyone can go to the platform and watch. Admission is so reasonable that even a short visit is doable.

The train gardens are great for the kids to see in action. The only real hands on adventure for kids is the real caboose that they can go into and explore. I wish there was more active narrative for the kids and adults so a better understanding of the relationship to the civil war and the years before and after.

Fans of trains and train gardens will enjoy this historic spot. At Christmas time there is a Lego train garden in addition to the regular garden, which is tremendous. Caboose is really fun for kids and the railroad and Civil War history will interest the adults.
