The Western Maryland Scenic Railroad ride was so relaxing, and I loved the scenery. It was about an hour ride to Frostburg, Md, an hour stay in Frostburg, and an hour ride back. There is a nice place to eat at the train station, a small gift shop, and a carriage museum. There is free transportation into town if you... More

Riding the railroad is like taking a trip back in time! You get to move slowly, see the scenery and enjoy a ride on a real "whoo-whoo, chug, chug" choo choo train. Something the youngsters don't get to see these days. A relaxing way to spend time with the kids and also enjoy the day together.

Having gone to all the continents and too many countries to count, it is refreshing to still be able to discover a place close to home. Traveling from Detroit, MI, we met friends from the East Coast in Cumberland, MD. The goal was to take the scenic train ride to Frostburg and back, which we did and it was a... More

This was so relaxing and enjoyable...pay the extra $5 for a premium seat...the views are gorgeous I can imagine even better in the fall...great for all ages....not much time in frostburg to really see much and if you can't do steps you can't wonder off too far....but plenty to do by the station. We really enjoyed this adventure and the... More

Loved riding this historic train on a 3 1/2 hour journey through the mountain of western Maryland. The staff was very professional and our seats were very comfortable.

A group of Red Hat Society members took this trip one beautiful Fall day ... well worth the time. Gorgeous scenery, bald eagles' nests, changing leaves ... not to be missed in the autumn !

We booked a ride for us and our tandem bicycle on the wonderful Western Maryland Scenic Railroad. It was amazing to see this magnificent 1916 steam locomotive working her way up the mountain to Frostburg, MD. Gorgeous views awaited all along the way. The staff were very careful loading and unloading both our tandem bicycle and the trailer we pull... More

Great way to spend a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. The Ride begins in old Cummberland through scenic passes, over bridges and through a tunnel and ends in Frostburg, MD. We purchased the priority seating tickets which gave us a seat looking into a wall between two panels of glass, no big deal cause we moved to two seats that were... More

Now back for the third time. A real blend of the past and a first class day trip with friends. Well worth the extra expense of diner class tickets. Watching the scenery pass by while listening to the live narration of the who's when's and where's of the rarely seen part of Maryland is an experience that never repeats itself... More
