We camped here in our RV for a few nights in August. Worked out great as a base to visit Cumberland and ride the scenic railroad. As for the campground itself, the sites are fairly private and wooded. We had a path next to our site (#10 in the Ash Loop) that led to the beach so we had quite... More

Convenient, beautiful, peaceful, park with mutliple beaches, marinas and camp sights. There are two camp stores, one which has a basic menu of to go food to eat and iems such as hibachi grills, basic supplies and even hammocks for sale.

I know that Maryland State was losing money on Rocky Gap, hence the motivation to move a casino onto the location. I have no objection to the casino, but the quality of the food and ambiance went straight into the toilet with the casino. In addition, hotels in Cumberland now get shuttle service to the casino, which means that prices... More

We have been to Rocky Gap several times and had a great time every visit. The park has easy to reach boat launches, well marked and easy to navigate hiking trails, lake access with beach area and decent fishing. Tent and RV sites area ample and reasonably private. Roads, and other facilities are well maintained. There are many picnic tables... More

It is a beautiful man made lake. It is an all season place to visit. There are campgrounds and a resort to stay at. Also the State Park has swimming and fishing. There is hiking the whole family can enjoy together.

i grew up going to rocky gap. and we took our kids there every summer for the last 10 years. (kids are 10,7,7) but it has gone down hill. not because the new casino either. which does diminish the "family type feeling." But because it is being trashed by ppl coming from mexico. whites&blacks are the minority for sure. which... More

Rocky Gap State Park is a lovely park. We are here in late April, and the golf course looks well maintained already. The Ash loop for RVs and travel trailers is the only loop with electricity, though larger rigs might have trouble here. There are only two pull-thru sites, one of which (site 8) is curved and has trees close... More

Unfortunately the State Park does the best they can with the Casino taking over the area. What used to be a family oriented place is now, a parking lot in place of the volleyball courts, and no campfire @ the lodge for the families.

This is a good park. Has a nice casino. Has a couple beaches to go swimming. Your aloud to have battery power engines on the lake for your boats. Very nice camp ground. Good fishing. And public hunting. I have it 4 stars because you can't have alcohol while camping. Not a big deal but would be nice if you... More
