Boring. no swimming. Bugs are huge and everywhere. Staff is not knowledgeable or friendly. Sites are primitive. Store barely furnished, no t shirts larger than L, nature center not open, events poorly run. We won't be going back

I brought my dogs camping in a travel trailer. We got an electric site, waterfront, facing the canal & Janes Island. There was no extra fee for my dogs. My husband got a 7-day saltwater fishing license online for $12.00, our 2nd day down there. They e*mailed it right to his phone. The biting flies were nasty. My insect repellent... More

We rented a canoe and explored beautiful marshes. Wild life included tons of mussels, blue herons, cranes, fish, and crabs. There are some biting flies so bring your insect repellent. Canoeing trails are very well marked and the staff is quite friendly and helpful. We intend to come back to enjoy the backwoods camping on a small island in the... More

Spent the July 4th holiday tent camping at Janes Island. This was my wife and my first time there and our friends' second. We found the park to be very nice. The campsites are spacious and clean. Nice large tent pads, although the majority of them in area C are fine gravel and not sand. The firepits are very nice... More

Went to Janes Island for two nights of camping. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The park was clean and the bathrooms were well kept and the showers were hot. Even though every camp site near us was full the park was quiet and I did not see any problems. We rented a kayak for the day. The park... More

Jane's Island State Park is off the beaten track and thus not visited by many. But the scenery is great, and opportunities for water recreation abound. One drawback: Pretty much everything was under construction when I visited.

This is a beautiful area for camping and kayaking. The area has so many beautiful birds - herons, egrets, ospreys! An unspoiled area on the Lower Eastern Shore. The area can be really warm and humid in the July, August months with mosquitos and flies - but if you are prepared you will be fine. The breezes in this area... More

I camped in a 'camper cabin' at Janes Island for 4 nights and it was a perfect getaway for me. I was near the water and far enough away from other campers to feel safely isolated. The staff were helpful and informative. My one caveat is that the kayaking, while beautiful, can be tricky. The ramp for getting in and... More

My wife, stepson, and I just got back from a weekend trip. We had a great time, but I feel the need to post the following information for novice kayak/canoers to the open water scene: This area's signage for the various water trails running through the island are few and far between, and very confusing WHEN you are able to... We camped here for 3 nights. The campground is beautiful and right on the water. Bath-house was nice and clean. Registration people were very friendly and helpful. We brought our kayak. They have kayak storage rack at the launch site so you don't have to haul it back to your campsite each day. They have rental kayaks and canoes as... More
