In my opinion, this is the better part of Acadia National Park- no crowds, a plethora of rocky beaches to walk on, and the best part-easy and safe bike riding. You don't have to compete with a car logged road- with the one way roads the bikes practically have their own lane to ride in.

Shoodic park is a nice relaxing tour of the Maine shoreline. You can pack a lunch and make a day of watching the breakers on the rocks.

I took my boys up schoodic mountain for the first time. I've been up it many times and couldn't wait. They enjoyed "real hiking". Once we got to the top the ooohs and awes were non stop. They can't wait to climb it again. The views are worth the effort.

All the other reviews have been by summer visitors, but I live here year round. The fire road that others have mentioned is closed to vehicles in winter, but it is open for hikers and snowshoers. It's a roughly two mile 'shoe, up and down the 440 foot elevation change. It can be a challenge...I'm 67...but I like to make... More

Nice easy, less than 10 minute jaunt to the top that you can even do at a trot (and I am 62). Good views. Not spectacular given that it isn't very high but rewarding nonetheless. You might as well do it while you are on the 1-way loop within Acadia National Park -- Schoodic Peninsula.

It's a short drive up the mountain on a gravel road, but easy for a car. You can park and walk up and out to several spots for grand views of he area. We enjoyed the quiet and beautiful scenery.

The Schoodic Peninsula is one of our favorite destinations in Downeast Maine. Known as the quieter part of Acadia NP, you will find stunning views, a great road for biking (one way traffic), and some great little hikes. We usually pack a picnic lunch and eat it while watching the waves break over the granite rocks at the tip of... More
