The Strand is a must for anyone visiting the Rockland area. The movies are often little known (by big screen standards) but always excellent and thought provoking. Also live shows as well. Even if you can't see a show, try to pop in just to see the restoration of this old theater

This theatre has been beautifully and lovingly restored (right down to the 40's costume clad staff!), by folks who obviously really cared about the project. We sat in the balcony to see a film (Amy) here but would be back in a heartbeat for any live show they offered. We're told that beer and wine is served in the balcony,... More

Here for 2nd time and enjoyed lots of films at this theater..luckily we visited during the Camden International Film Festival and saw movies at both the Strand in Rockland and the Camden Opera House. Staff always friendly and gracious Theatre near lots of great restaurants too.

The Strand Theater in Rockland is like a mirage of a simpler time, plucked from a dream. Having mostly grown up in the 1970s and 1980s, I did not encounter a great many old style theaters like this - ironically I only saw them in movies that I was forced to watch at grotesque, big-box style megaplex monstrosities! The Strand,... More

The Strand a place we visit very frequently. Live shows, better movies and live transmitals from The Metropolitan Opera and The Bolshoi Ballet and so many other special events. We love The Strand!

This was the second time I had attended an event at the Strand, and every time I do there I enjoy the environment as well as the program. The Theater had been remodeled in 2005 and the architect did a fantastic job of bringing the feeling of a 1920's theater to modern day standards. From the front lobby to the... More

Lovely theatre right on main street. Nice concession with Beer and wine. Very clean restrooms and small intimate theatre. We went to see Slaid Cleaves perform. He is a fabulous folk singer that grew up in Maine but now lives in Texas. The acoustics were superior to most venues this size. At one point in the show Slaid and accompanyment... More

We saw the Million Dollar Quartet in this marvelous venue. The show was as spectacular as the theater. If you want a taste of how it was in "the good old days of luxury" visit the Strand and find where the Million Dollar Quartet is playing and go. It's a wonderful show especially in such a classy and unique venue.

If you're headed to Mid Coast Maine, do check out their website for a great collection of music, film and special programs in this beautifully restored theater on Main Street in Rockland. If it's a concert you're headed to, get your tickets early, it often fills up.

I consider myself lucky to live five minutes from The Strand Theatre. The Strand presents a steady stream of quality indie, foreign, and award-winning films to Rockland, as well as live broadcasts in HD from The National Theatre in London and the Met Opera in New York. But best of all are the live concerts. I've seen so many incredible... More
