The Coastal Children’s Museum is dedicated to providing children ages 2-9 and their families the opportunity to explore, discover and learn through play about the natural world, the arts and sciences and the diversity of Maine’s coast. Our Core Values:* Each Child and parent/caregiver deserves respect.* Families are the first educators.* Learning occurs through play.* The Community is out first resource.* The Museum is responsible to the world and the environment. The Coastal Children's Museum opened at Sharp's Point South in the summer of 2009 and we are so excited about our new home and love seeing the children learning, playing and creating. Children (and their parents!) are exploring our indoor sailboat, CedarWorks indoor climber, and “Sharpie’s General Store”. The museum also hosts many species of tropical and Maine Coast sea life in our "Under the Sea Room" and our full size Gulf of Maine touch tank. We also have a daily craft at the art table , puppet theater, Tubes and Tracks, and a woodworking bench and wonderful puzzles and books all throughout the museum.Workshops, special guests, and family fun days are held at the museum entertaining and educating families on diverse topics. We have had programs on dance and movement, animals and insects, writing and poetry, and everything in between. You can also have your birthday party at the museum. Membership is affordable and it entitles you to free admission, and discounts on programs and events, birthday parties, and t-shirts.Check out our website which has details and pictures of all our exhibits, past workshops, upcoming events and more. Why not swing by your new Coastal Children’s Museum. We are open Wed-Sat 10:00- 4:00 and Sundays 1:00 to 4:00. See you there! Summer Hours Tues-Sat 10:00-4:00 and Sundays 1:00 to 4:00

This is such a fun place. If you are a child there are so many things to learn and have fun doing it. If you are old, its like a step back in time. I had a fine time playing!

Young children will have a blast here. Visitors are greeted with a very pretty garden where there are outdoor musical exhibits and little watering cans for the kids. Inside, there are lots of fun activities. The fish tanks, touch tank and boats to play in add to the coastal theme. The little vet's office, grocery store and cafe make for... More

This is a fun cheep place to take small children. I ofter take my children. They have a touch tank and each room is a theme. Vets office, grocery store and restaurant. This is a fun safe place for kids to go. I would say this is for younger children to the age of 8.

The CCM, as I will abbreviate it from now on, is located across from a sloop reconstruction shop and multi-story, multi-use commercial building. The reason I mention this is b/c traffic is accordingly ever-present. While the flower garden that greets visitors is pleasant, one can barely relax due to nearby cars and foot traffic! Let's move inside. The staff is... More

We really enjoyed our time here. There were many hands on and interactive exhibits. A sailboat, "store", crafts and wood shop were among some of the favorites!!

It was very hot out today, so I decided to take the almost-6-year-old that I babysat to this children's museum. I expected it to be a low-key, fun afternoon activity that would help beat the heat. This children's museum was far more than I had expected, and she absolutely loved every minute of the almost two hours that we spent... More

Visited here last week with an 8, 6, and 4 year old. We only had a limited time to enjoy the activites as the museum closes at 4 PM; however the time there was fun for the children. There is a play kitchen area, a vet clinic where the children can treat the stuffed animals, and a building area where... More

I don't think parents should be charged! Geared towards 1-9 yr olds. We walked in and we were the only ones in there at the time and no one came to the touch tank to show us! My youngest was hoping to see it! Then in one area a older lady came over and asked us if we were in... More

We apologize if your experience at the Coastal Children's Museum was anything less than perfect. I believe you will find our policy of charging for adults is standard procedure in children's museums. In regards to the touch tank, we are sorry that you were not able to enjoy that highlight of our museum, and we thank you for bringing that... More

The person in charge gave us a full tour.We did not have children but being teachers were very interested in what it had to offer! It had some very innovative ideas, very creative choices for the kids including puppet stages,hands... More
