The Maine coast is geared to tourists however I felt that going on the Captain Jack Lobster Boat gave me a taste of Maine life. I loved being on the boat (only 6 passengers allowed) and seeing what lobstermen do. The first mate kindly answered all my questions. We were able to purchase 2 of the lobsters and have it cooked... Captain Jack's lobster boat trip is fantastic! We took the kids on a beautiful sunny morning in June and had a blast. The captain and first mate were funny, interactive and informative. The kids got to hold the lobsters, play with sea urchins, and touch the crabs. We didn't go that far out, but enough to see a bit of... More

They caught a lobster that was too big to keep! These guys did a great job answering questions and explaining what they do. They are very friendly. We had a great time! You can even buy some of the catch before you leave.

Captain Jack (Steve) is a terrific guy who has been lobstering most all his life. He and his helper were entertaining, informative and very pleasant to spend time with. This excursion gives you a real sense of what a lobster-man does.

We took our 4 and 6 year olds on the boat. I would highly recommend this trip for small kids. It's about an hour which is just the right amount of time to ask little kids to sit on a boat. The boat is fairly small and will only take 6 passengers at a time. You are not actually lobster... More

We visited in May 2014, and enjoyed our trip on Captain Jack's boat. We were surprised to find that most of the tour was conducted by his 1st mate, Robbie, but Robbie was very informative and able to answer our questions. The tour consisted of about 60-75 minutes of visiting about 20 traps around the bay and discovering what was... More

This is not a hands-on lobster boat. Go to Portland for that. Sit back enjoy the scenery and ask questions. The captain loves to tell local stories. (Ask about the bic lighter commercial).

We love lobster! My husband found Captain Jack online and booked couple days ahead. We live in Texas but always enjoy our trips to Maine. However, we had never been on a lobster boat. We thoroughly enjoyed our excursion. Both the Captain and First Mate were very hospitable and answered our many questions. They explained trapping and how the conservation... More
