The walk to the lighthouse on the breakwater is scenic and a good workout. The views are worth the effort.

A terrific opportunity to see a lighthouse up close and personal. Definitely not a walk for the faint of heart. Wear decent sneakers - not flip-flops. Use caution. The wall is a modern marvel made of carefully positioned granite blocks. This being said, be careful where you step! I would not walk the breakwater during high winds, rain, and most... More

We had a lovely walk to the lighthouse. The colourful lobster traps along the way and the distant view of the harbor were a treat. My son enjoyed counting the 12 second intervals between the soundings of the fog horn!

Convenient parking lot. Great views from the breakwater---but watch where you're walking because the granite rocks are not level. Do not wear flip flops.

I love hiking to the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse. Why? Because the hike consists of walking a mile across a manmade wall made from huge rocks set in the water.

If you have not visited this sight in the heart of the bay overlooking Rockland Harbor, you are missing out. This is a splendid easy walk out to a historical landmark of a lighthouse. The walk is easy and accessible for just about anyone who has two legs and the ability to handle a couple miles of leisurely walking. Do... More

If you're in Rockland and it's a nice day, you must take a walk to the lighthouse! It's on a rocky path (pretty long about .75 miles one way) surrounded by water. Parking was easy, we got there before noon and when we left the parking was a lot more packed but still with lots of open spaces. Be sure... More

We noticed so many people wearing flip flops & crocs. Great way to twist an ankle. Long, beautiful walk. Fun seeing all the lobster traps set.

This is a lovely walk. We would suggest doing it on a cooler day, or early or late in the day because it can get very hot. It can also be very bright with water reflecting on both sides of the granite pier so sunglasses are a must. Wear sneakers not sandals or flip flops.

This light house is really interesting and we loved that you could go to the top for a wonderful view. The breakwater rocks are very flat and the path is wide but you still need to watch where you are walking. There were families, fishermen and couples enjoying the sunset. Really nice break in a busy day!
