It was a great 2 mile walk on the Bay, not much like the traditional lighthouses but in a unique setting which makes it fun!

This is a unique lighthouse. It isn't very tall. It isn't overlooking a rocky shoreline. You have to walk 7/8 of a mile to get to it. But it is on the edge of the breakwater entering Rockland Harbor and the view from the middle of the water is fantastic! The breakwater itself is made up of granite blocks laid... More

The trek along the jetty is about 7/8 miles and well worth the effort. This is a lovely Maine lighthouse.

The Breakwater is a must do. It is a beautiful walk out to the lighthouse. A unique view of Rockland harbor. Often there are sailboats and windjammers going by. The walk can be difficult for anyone who is unsteady. It's worth mentioning that you can also take a small boat ride from Rockland Harbor out to the lighthouse, if you... More

Lovely walk to the house, wear sensible shoes. One of the easier breakwaters to walk but still not for heels. The house is adorable and the view from the light is amazing!!

We loved everything about the visit to the breakwater. Parking was easy and free! The walk along the shore to the actual breakwater was pleasant and offers the opportunity to get right down to the water's edge, which I did. The breakwater itself is very well maintained. Wear sensible shoes, please. No heels! Be sure to go on a beautiful... More

7/8 mile breakwater structure and you have an awesome view. Only be recommended for good weather, otherwise it could be dangerous.

After a nice walk, the lighthouse is worth visiting. Volunteers explain the history, you can have a rest and enjoy the view before the walk back. Wear comfortable shoes on this rocky road.

If you love long walks, you have to go to this place. The lighthouse is at the very end of the Rockland Breakwater. You have to walk almost a mile to reach it. I would say it was worth the walk. The feel of the ocean breeze on your face is very therapeutic. The sound of the breeze and the... More

There is usually a sign when you first start the walk letting you know if the lighthouse is open. The walk is lovely! Great views! Fun for couples and families both.
