Bagheera and Wendameen provide the perfect vantage point to enjoy some of Maine's most beautiful sights and sounds - from the deck of a storied wooden schooner built in the early 20th century. For an afternoon, a day, or an overnight windjammer adventure, from Portland Harbor through the pristine waters of Casco Bay and beyond, refresh your spirit and excite your soul with an unforgettable sail reminiscent of a simpler time. « less

Tour was $39 per person, and totally worth it. The crew consisted of 3, and they were very talkative during the tour. They said at the beginning that when the boat needed to be tended to they would get up and go to work, but for most of the trip they would walk around and talk to the passengers and... More

We had a fantastic time on a two-hour sail on the 88-foot schooner, the Wendameen. The staff was very friendly and capable, and since we had a nice windy (and sunny!) day, the sail was very exciting. I've done a lot of sailing, but never on a 1912 schooner, and it was great fun. I was surprised and how exciting... More

My boyfriend and I went on Portland Schooner on a sunny Saturday afternoon. The boat was packed and we sat at the end. All in all it was an okay trip but a few things were bothersome. First, sitting on the end was a bad idea. Every time one of the deckhands used the ropes in front of us, her... More

Since it was a beautiful day the Saturday we were in Portland before embarking on our Maine coastal road trip, we decided to give a schooner ride a try. We purchased tickets for the 1pm sailing and ran across the street to the liquor store to buy two beers to take with us (we had just had lunch, but I... More

A group of my girlfriends and I chose to attend a sunset sail on the first night of our stay in Portland, ME. We had fun working the sails with the crew (they asked us if we wanted to participate), and it was neat watching them move around the deck setting the sails. The ride itself was very relaxing, which... More

We took a daytime 2 hr. cruise in late June 2011 and found it pleasant, but, as some have said, sort of boring. It was a simple out-and-back in Portland harbor, and it was interesting watching the young crew work the sails. But we eventually lost the wind and had to return under the motor's power. There was no narration,... More

I went on a Sunset Sail and was not disappointed. The ship is a beautiful way to tour the bay. There was enough wind that we could sail and was a beautiful night for it. The crew were not very engaging and it was not a tour where you learn about the area, history, etc. A couple of the rest... More

My boyfriend and I did this sail a few weeks ago and had a great time. The boat is beautiful and it's very interesting watching the crew sail the boat, especially if you've never experienced a sail before. The crew was extremely nice and laidback. If you go you can expect a nice, quiet sail out on the bay and... More

My husband and I went on the sunset crew last week. The boat is beautiful and the sailing was nice, however the crew was a little disappointing. The captain was very honest about her dislike for cruise ship customers. Apparently each passenger takes up "too much room". It was quite unprofessional. Also, one of the deck hands talked endlessly about... More

My wife, my college age son, and I took the two hour cruise last summer. The ship is beautiful, the setting is spectacular, but after the initial excitement of getting underway, the cruise was sort of dull. Mostly we just sailed back and forth in the harbor. Some historical narratives and stories from the crew would help. They were nice... More
