Description: Lucky Catch Cruises offers 1 1/2 hour lobstering excursions in Casco Bay...
Lucky Catch Cruises offers 1 1/2 hour lobstering excursions in Casco Bay, Maine. The tours depart from Long Wharf in Portland and operate from the first weekend of May through the last weekend of October. A typical lobster excursion involves pulling eight traps near scenery such as the Portland Headlight Lighthouse, Civil War Fort Gorges and the Seal Rocks. Lobsters can be purchased after the tour for a discounted price and brought to the restaurant next door for cooking. We limit the number of passengers on each boat, so please call ahead for reservations. All the best from Maine!

We had a great time on this cruise. You learn so much about catching lobsters. The entire crew is friendly and knowledgeable. You can participate in the catch as much as you want. A definite highlight of our trip. The tour would be good for young and old. And at the end, if you want, you can buy a lobster... More

We did the Lucky Catch Cruise in Aug 2014. The cruise takes you out to on a very interactive informative excursion. They teach your how to bait the lobster pots, identify the right size and sex of lobsters to keep, the ways to identify your pots, etc. Also provide a history of the Portland Bay area. Very casual fun crew.... More

The ship was rather on a small side, but the waters were calm and the views were great. The guide treated us with stories of the town, individual islands and light houses.

From the 11 yr old Best thing EVER!!! Very fun and exciting for everyone. I liked to see lobsters and other sea life. From the 8 yr old I loved it! Liked seeing and holding what came out of the cage and all the sea gulls up above the boat. It was a small boat with only 12 in our... More

I'm so glad I chose this experience. I could have sat on a boat and listen to a tour or get this hands on very informative tour. We got to do it all if I need some extra money I can be hired part time as lobster boat personnel.

The crew was sensational. They were very informative, educational, and interactive. It was so awesome to actually see the lobster cages up close and personal. You get to dress up with pants and gloves, my 10yr old daughter and 2 year old nephew loved that part and getting to feel like they were lobstering. So much fun partaking in measuring... More

We wanted a real Maine experience and what better way then on a lobster boat! Nine members of my family went and we had the entire boat to ourselves. We saw a few seals in the harbor, then had a nice cruise out to the lobster traps were we got to bait them! The captains were super friendly and we... More

We have taken this cruise twice. What a fun idea...to go on an actual lobstering expedition. You don the garb...rubber pants and jackets...you haul up the traps and you measure the lobster catch for legal sizes...and you put the elastic bands (with a neat device) on the very lively claws. Crew/staff are all wonderfully knowledgeable and informative in such a... More

We visited over Memorial day week. The crew was extremely friendly and informative. I can't think of any way this could have been a better trip.

Thank you for this great experience letting us set traps and pull up lobsters on your boat. You did an excellent job letting all 18 of us take part on this fun cruise.. Next best part was walking off the boat with lobsters in hand and having them cooked at the Portland Lobster Company into a complete meal for only... More
