Description: Lucky Catch Cruises offers 1 1/2 hour lobstering excursions in Casco Bay...
Lucky Catch Cruises offers 1 1/2 hour lobstering excursions in Casco Bay, Maine. The tours depart from Long Wharf in Portland and operate from the first weekend of May through the last weekend of October. A typical lobster excursion involves pulling eight traps near scenery such as the Portland Headlight Lighthouse, Civil War Fort Gorges and the Seal Rocks. Lobsters can be purchased after the tour for a discounted price and brought to the restaurant next door for cooking. We limit the number of passengers on each boat, so please call ahead for reservations. All the best from Maine!

This was a great experience! Our guide was energetic and very knowledgeable. We were able to learn about lobstering, pull pots, set bait, and measure lobsters. It's a great trip for couples and families.

Based on prior reviews, our group (5 adults, 7 children- ages 9 to 15) went on the 5:30 cruise almost a week ago. We called a few days prior to the trip and had no problems making advance reservations. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff (from the ticket counter to the boat's captain). We enjoyed the views and gained a whole... More

We wanted a true Maine experience when visiting Portland, so we booked a lobster cruise with Lucky Catch. Awesome!!! From the minute we got to the boat, the crew was friendly and helpful. They made sure everyone was actively engaged in the experience from bait, traps, measuring and banding lobsters. My two kids got to do everything like real lobster... More

I took my granddaughters and we all had a great time. They loved watching the fisherman pull in the lobster traps. The people work the boat were so nice and accommodating.

Reasonably priced, although a little difficult to book. Call a few days ahead to get the exact time you want, but be flexible if the boats need repairs. CASH only and no bathrooms on the boat. Bring water. Captain Dave was the best! We learned a lot, got to help band the claws, prepare feed bags to lure lobsters in... More

Our whole family loved this experience. You learn so much about lobster fishing and get to experience it hands on. ..all in the beautiful scenery of Portland harbor. When you are finished with the cruise you can buy lobsters right off the boat and have them cooked at the restaurant next door. A must do experience in Portland!

We were in the Portland area for only a day, on our way to Acadia, and we had a reservation that put us out in a very steady downpour. Brian and the 'teacher' Maureen (not sure I remember her name?) were just fantastic! They all entertained our three small kids and were super accommodating! When we returned my seven year... More

Had a beautiful day out on Casco Bay learning about the lobster trade. Captain was wonderful and the staff on the boat did their best to help us enjoy the experience. We were able to understand the decision making and work that goes into catching lobster. Fun afternoon in the sun.

Fun trip. Learned a lot about catching lobsters. There are opportunities to bait, clean out the trap, and/or bait the trap. We bought two lobsters at the end of the trip, took them down the pier to a restaurant and ate them. Delicious!!
