We had a great time on the Sea Tour, boating through the islands in Casco Bay and of course seeing the lighthouses. The tour guide did a great job, was very knowledgeable, and had a good sense of humor to keep everyone interested. Initial seating was tight, but then you are able to roam around the boat after it gets... More

We took the Lighthouse Lovers Cruises midday on a weekday. It cost $24 per person for the 90 minute cruise. Here are some highlights and advice: -Arrive at least 15 minutes early. Plan on a lot more time if you will need to park in Portland. Put a lot of extra money in your wallet for parking in a lot.... More

The sunset cruise was absolutely perfect. This tour is narrated by a very knowledgeable guide, with the added bonus of a good sense of humour. We saw and heard the stories of various lighthouses, as well as the islands, forts, interesting ships and so forth. Additionally, the tour guide and captain worked to provide us with photo opportunities not solely... More

Hi mmmtt, Thanks for this excellent review and we're happy to hear you had such a great tour. Our guides work pretty hard to provide a good tour, and our captains certainly do their best to get up close to the various sights and usually can spin the boat to make sure everyone gets a good look or a photo... Took both the trolley and the cruise and enjoyed them both a lot. The cruise takes you to a different place than the ferryboats, so is worth doing even if you've gone on the ferry trips. The trolley trip included a tour around town and a trip to the lighthouse, both of which were very enjoyable.

Hi Annie, Glad to hear enjoyed both tours! And thanks for pointing out that our route differs from the ferry boats. They obviously service the islands and we do go out to the lighthouses in South Portland and Cape Elizabeth first before cruising some of the island channels. Thanks for taking the time to write this review! More

We took the afternoon cruise of the lighthouses. the next day we took the city trolley tour. Information given on both tours was interesting. If you go on the cruise sit on the RIGHT hand side. Most everything to see is on that side. I had to get up to take pictures and it is not a steady ride. Good... More

Hi CinAndy, Thanks for the kind words and the 5 "star" review! We like to think the tours are a pretty good way to get familiar with Portland and learn some interesting facts. Sorry you had to get up to get some photos. Typically, it's a pretty calm ride on the Bay so people will move around to get some... More

I took the trolley tour and the lighthouse boat tour. The trolley tour was a lot of fun, it was narrated by a Portland Maine native. He was very knowledgeable and pointed out various historical sites and showed us some very cool architecture. He clearly loved his city and was a pleasure to have as a tour guide. The lighthouse... Hi Octavia, Thanks for the feedback on the tours and we're glad you liked them! Almost all of our guides are originally from the area or have at least lived here for a very long time. In fact, most of our trolley drivers have been with us for the better part of a decade, some more! It was our pleasure... More

We did the Lighthouse Lovers Tour - 90 minutes was just the right amount of time - great views of the islands in Casco Bay as well as the lighthouses. Well worth the price and the time!

Gramps was an amazing tour guide. They take you all around the city. If you've never been to Portland then do this before exploring all the city has to offer!

Thanks for the review Scott and we'll make sure Gramps sees it! We often hear that people feel they saw parts of the city they might not have otherwise found, or that at least it gives them a good idea of where everything is. Thanks so much for taking the time to write this review! More

We did the "Lighthouse Lovers Cruise." We're not connoisseurs, so we don't know the distinctions between types of lighthouses. We saw the Cape Elizabeth lighthouse, which is what I would call a "real" lighthouse. The other lighthouses were small or in the distance. Yes, we saw 4-5 lighthouses, but I thought we would see several similar to the Cape Elizabeth... More

Hi brinssl, Thanks for the review and we're happy to hear you enjoyed the tour and narration. I think the impressive lighthouse you're referring to is Portland Head Light and that is certainly the highlight and supposedly one of the most photographed in the nation. Thanks again for joining us! More

Portland is my hometown, but I got the tours as a Father's Day gift. There are two. One is of the city by "trolley" (seats about 30) and the other of the harbor on a boat that seats maybe 60. The girl at the ticket booth was very nice and helpful. The guides are funny and know their town and... More

Thanks for joining us Dan and thanks to whomever bought you the Gift Certificate as well! So happy you enjoyed both tours, especially as a local. I'm also from the area and upon first starting work here took both tours, unsure of what to expect. I actually also had Doug as my first tour guide and couldn't believe what an... More
