We did the Land tour, which took us around all of Portland (its about 105 min). It was a fun way to discover everything Portland had to offer especially since it was our first time! It was also perfect for us since we were just there for the weekend and got to really see all landmarks like the Victorian House,... More

I didnt have a car at my disposal, so this was the perfect way of exploring the city, and the bays and lighthouses. I took the city as well as the water tour. Both times the guide was great. the trolley guide was JJ, he was super funny , interesting and knowledgeable. I'm sorry I forget, it was either Ryan... More

We booked the combination land and sea tour with Portland Discovery Tours. My four star rating is based on the harbor/lighthouse tour only. The harbor/lighthouse cruise was well worth the money and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Tour guide was very knowledgeable and showed us the best of Portland by sea. The sea tour, however, was not worth the money spent.... More

Hi Teacher071, Thanks for your nice review of the Lighthouse Cruise, and while you say "sea" it seems you didn't enjoy the Land (trolley) tour as much. The trolley does stop at Portland Head Light lighthouse, which is our most famous and most photographed lighthouse and certainly the most quintessentially "Maine" in the area (compared to Bug Light or Spring... Portland is a wonderful place and the combo tours w/ Portland Discovery Tours is the right way to start. We enjoyed an hour & half city trolley tour that gave a great overview of the sights, history, shopping & dining options. Then we had an hour & half on our own to have lunch along the harbor before taking the... More

Hi TXhome, So happy that you loved Portland and that we could show you around! We like to think the tours give people a fun, comprehensive overview of Portland, so that you can get your bearings while also learning about our city at the same time. We're happy to hear you felt the tours were reasonably priced as well. Can't... More

We booked the sunset lighthouse tour, we enjoyed the tour, but it was freezing on the top deck. They had a limited number of blankets, that were quickly snatched up, so definitely dress warm, even in midsummer, bring at least a jacket. We saw a 3 - 4 lighthouses, seals sunning on a rock, and a bald eagle in the... More

Hello G H, Thanks for joining us on the Sunset Lighthouse Cruise and happy to hear you enjoyed it. You are correct that it can get chilly out there on the water. We do have the enclosed cabin on the lower level but most people would say the views are better from the top deck. Layers are always a good... More

Knowledgeable staff, great beer options, beautiful views of various lighthouses, hotels, landmarks, and Portland from the coast. Layer up, as it gets very blustery. A great value for the money -- you'll get some nice photos!

Hi Cassandra, Thanks so much for taking the nice to write this nice review. We do our best to make people aware in advance, but you are right about it getting chilly out on the water, especially in October. We do have inside space on both boats, but of course there's a better view from the decks. So glad to... More

This boat tour lasts about 90 minutes and takes you past no fewer than a half-dozen light houses thar ring the Portland harbor. Passengers are free to move about the upper and lower decks, which makes the trip that much more enjoyable because you are not restricted to your seat. The guide was very well-informed, and gave a very good... More

Hi Jason, Thanks for the great review! We're happy you had fun on the cruise it felt it was a good price. We should clarify that we can usually get up close to 4 lighthouses, and can usually see three others as long as it's a clear, calm day. Sounds like that is what you must have had! We can't... More

Our family group of 9(8 plus 1 dog) visited Portland in mid October and were treated to a warm, sunny day. We wanted to take the combo City/Lighthouse, but the bus portion was sold out, so we settled for the water portion. When we inquired about bringing our dog, we were told: "This Maine, of course your dog is welcome!"... More

Hi Bobbalou 23, Thanks for joining us on the cruise and we're glad to hear you enjoyed it! We appreciate you sharing all this helpful information, and would like to make just one clarification: our handicap accessibility on the boat can really be affected by the tide. It sounds like you were probably here closer to high tide when there's... More

Hi Shawn, Thanks for taking our Lighthouse Lovers Cruise and for taking the time to write this review. We do tend to have choppier seas in the fall than in the summer months. Within our tour loop, Portland Head Light is where the open ocean starts so if it's a nice calm day, we can get around Portland Head Light... More

I loved that I could pre-book this harbor and city tour prior to arrival in Portland. We took the harbor cruise tour first and it was fantastic!
