We saw The Whipping Man at Portland Stage and we were enthralled. 3 men on stage engaged in dialogue for almost two hours ( including a 15 minute intermission) and yet you could hear a pin drop in the the theater as the capacity audience was drawn in and so deeply engaged in the unfolding drama on stage. The play... More

Attended "Brighton Beach Memoirs" with my sister and my 17 year old niece. Each of us thoroughly enjoyed the performance. The characters were perfectly cast and the actors brought out the best in each. The theater is extremely comfortable, clean and well-run. We will definitely look forward to future performances at this venue

We went to see O'Neill's "Memoirs of Brighton Beach". I thought the play was well performed. The theater itself is very nice with comfortable seating and great stage visibility. Not a bad seat in the house! We are not typically theater goers but this was very enjoyable and something I would recommend.

Almost had given up on Portland Stage as the last 4 plays seen there were very disappointing for me. Decided to give it one last attempt and did so on 10/4, and to my surprise we were delighted with everything about the production. "Brighton Beach Memoirs" was totally entertaining and enjoyable. The acting was so well done and the set... More

This is a local theater that has an Actor's Equity association which guaranties great casts. The theater itself is small but well done and the theater tries to present a wide range of serious drama rather than the usual more popular revivals.

We spend a wonderful evening at Portland Stage last night. It's been a long time since our last visit but some things never change. The play and cast were first rate. A true treasure in Maine.

I always enjoy going to Portland Stage. I am not a subscriber, but choose the plays that interest me the most. The lobby area is also pleasant and has wine, coffee and delicious goodies for sale both before the show and at intermission.

Portland Stage is a strong regional theatre in Downtown Portland. The Show "Veils" was going on. This show is about a touchy subject and the actresses were very powerful. The theatre doesn't seem to have a bad seat. It was a packed house during the performance that I attended. The ushers and house staff were all very friendly.
