I'm not a big mead drinker, but this was a very informative and interesting tour of a mead works. Their process is fascinating, and their product is topnotch. We went as part of the Maine Brew Bus tour, which in itself is a GREAT deal.

My husband and I were touring around Portland, and after a quick google map exploration, we decided the Mead Works sounded fun. And we were right! The staff here is a lot of fun, and I highly recommend the tasting! The mead is delicious and it's something a bit different from all of the breweries around the area. Check it... More

The guys that work here are really friendly, they went out of their way to give me a tour of the place, explained to me what I was drinking and go me aquatinted with what I was drinking. I go a bottle of mead that I tasted, this place doesn't take a lot of time out of a tour or... More

While looking up breweries in Portland we saw they had a meadery. We have tried mead before and always like to see what else is out there. We stopped in and was greeted by the owner, Ben, on his way out and we were really pleased with their product. It is a little sweet but the Chai, Lavender and Tea... More

I've had mead once before and really didn't like it (way too sweet). What a surprise this place was. Stumbled upon it while leaving Bunker brewery and heading to Oxbow brewing, and was pleasantly surprised. Staff was super nice and their mead is super dry, meaning not too sweet! Their Apple Cysr is amazing and I was glad we stopped... More

We just learned about Maine Mead Works through a visit at a tap house in Portland and decided to stop for a tasting. When we came in there was no one in the tasting area. A very nice young woman came in from the office area and explained it would be a few minutes before someone could help us. We... More

We had a great time doing a tasting at Maine Mead Works! We were not there for a tour and did just a tasting of their 4 meads and 2 Ram Island offerings. It's a small place with a nice tasting bar and the woman serving us was very friendly and knowledgeable. I ended buying a bottle of mead and... More

We visited Maine Mead Works while in Portland on a cruise (we walked there and it wasn't too far, but wear comfy shoes!). We went right when it opened and were the only ones there. The woman doing the tasting was friendly and it was very relaxed. The tasting fee got us samples of 5 or 6 different drinks and... More
