I thought I had posted a review from my phone, but checking today I see that it never transpired. I first tried Maine Mead Works when I received it as a gift, and it became my favorite alcoholic beverage. I live in NY state, near dozens of Finger Lake wineries and craft breweries, so I have sampled my share. The... More

This meadery is a low-frills establishment, run by fewer than half a dozen employees, but the product is high-end enough to make you think it must be a whole lot bigger. Everything is made with love and dedication to the Craft of mead… a perfect example of small-town America and what good artists can produce. It was rainy today so... More

Never had tried Mead before but stopped in here when we were in Portland touring Breweries. To my surprise, I actually like Mead. The tastings are free and the staff will spend the time with you to explain the product, how it’s made and features about each type of mead. It was hard to whittle it down to just one... More

Stopped here in conjunction with the beer tour and it was one of my favorite stops. The staff was friendly and the tour was brief but eye opening. Really all you need to know is you probably will not be leaving with just one bottle, it was that tasty!

We checked this place out on our first trip to Portland. Glad we did the tour first then the tasting, which were both free! Learned a lot about mead and their unique process. Loved all the products, owner very sweet and knowledgeable - bought three varieties to bring home as they don't ship to NJ! Fun!

We stopped in to do a tasting, have a tour and learn more about mead. Unfortunately there was not a tour(we stopped on a Friday mornining) and the server was more interested in entertaining her toddler than doing our tasting, so needless to say we dod not learn much about mead. This was a big disapointment and a far cry... More

We spent a rainy hour here and had a great time. I had never had mead before but enjoy beer and wine. If you are the same you will probably like mead. The tour guide was awesome. It is a fairly small operation and almost everything is in one big room. She answered all of our questions and they do... More

We stopped here for a tasting and tour. It was a lot of fun and I learned a ton of stuff about mead. The lady that assisted us with the tasting was very nice and knowledgeable. The owner did the tour and was so receptive to our questions. We ended up buying a case of mead to bring home and... More

Fun and unique tasting! We stopped on our way between mid-coast and Boston. Unfortunately missed the tour by a few minutes. Wonderful variety of products. We especially liked the hopped, reserve, and lavender.
