The best way to see Casco Bay is out on the water. And with regular ferries to the islands as well as other tourist boats, it is easy and not too pricey.
It takes two and half hours and leaves about 2 PM. You will hear about a civil war fort, WWII fortifications, famous writers and actors who visited the area and you will have spectacular views of the Maine coastline!

Beautiful 90 minute tour of Casco Bay. We thoroughly enjoyed cruising around the bay on a tour boat, learning about the history of the area and taking in the sights. We are so glad we did this on our trip to Portland.
