Gritty McDuff’s, Maine’s Original Brew Pub specializes...

Gritty McDuff’s, Maine’s Original Brew Pub specializes in

hand-crafted English style ales and traditional and creative pub fare, in

a friendly and fun atmosphere. Both Gritty's fine ales and the pubs

have won countless "best of" awards through our twenty-six years of operation.

Our standard brews are session beers, Gritty’s Pub-Style Pale Ale, McDuff’s Best Bitter, Black Fly Stout,

allowing one to have multiple beers within a reasonable time period without overwhelming the

senses. Our seasonal and varietal ale offerings are more adventurous, some with a higher ABV, and some with higher IBU. We brew a beer for all craft brew palates.

For the diner, we offer traditional pub fare alongside not so traditional

specialty items. Our pub-style long tables with benches easily accommodate parties

of all sizes and add to the camaraderie.

We stopped here while in Portland for a quick bite with friends. I had a club sandwich which was very good. Portions were good size. Atmosphere was typical for a pub. Great selection of beers. Service was ok. Attentive at first but after we received our food, we didn't see waitress for quite awhile.

The food and drinks are solid, with good occasional music. Beer's great. Issue is the place turns into college central in the evenings. Gets pretty noisy/crowded.

I visited here for lunch as my tour coach stopped in Portland we used this as both a rest stop and lunch stop. After wandering the shops I just stopped in to Gritty McDuff's. I decided to try the Poutine dish which consisted if fries with melted cheese & bacon over them served with gravy on top. Definitely different but... More

Great, friendly service, good pub food in Gritty's roadhouse pub on US1 just south of Freeport. Nice to have outdoor seating available. Well crafted beer and a nice selection. Cascade hops overused in my opinion, though, would have preferred more variety, some of the more aromatic choices in some of the brews.

Long tables are good for friends sharing beer. The pub food is good. Better craft beer in other Portland bars.

While trying to find a hotel to stay overnight , we ended up at Gritty McDuff's. Typical , yes ... but at that moment it was a great spot for us to stop in . We only had their beer therefore can't comment on their food . The bartender was friendly and attentive , the beer delicious . Perhaps could... More

This is a great pub. Good pub food. All local brewed beer - downstairs! Service is good and fun. The proprietor and brew master is on site frequently. Solid choice

When we are in the old port with friends, this is always one of our stops when bar hopping. Have eaten here once in the many times visited and food was good and affordable.

Gritty's is a great spot to catch good food and beers. We went there before a concert on the pier. They have a variety of beers and the menu is huge with unique options. Had the turkey reuben, chowder, and sweet potato fries covered in pulled pork and cheese.. none of these disappointed. Seems like a fun place to hang... More

I'm not a huge fan. If you like busy, noisy bars with pretty typical pub food, then this is a decent stop for lunch or a cold winter brunch. Good beer, that's for sure. Service is ok but nothing to write home about. Gets a lot of business because of good location and pretty much always has a spot to... More
